Housing Offer
Hey 0L's - congrats on getting into GW Law School, I hope you're looking forward to it (it's really a blast). I finished up my 1L year and will be transferring to another school, but have an AMAZING deal on an apartment, and hope to set up my current landlord with another GW Law student rather than a rando. Here are the details:
- 25th and K (on 25th, quiet side street between H and K) - which puts you about a three minute walk from the metro, and about ten minute walk to the law quad itself
- rooftop pool, 24 hour doorman, basement gym, nice hallways and interior
- one block from Trader Joe's, two blocks to the beautiful Watergate shopping complex
- and the kicker: 1050/month (LL said maybe a 10 to 20 dollar increase, but that's it) and I'd be tacking on 85/month for cable internet and HD programming (signed a year contract before transfer issue came up)
- NO additional charge for utilities (critical during the swampy summer months)
Trust me, this place isn't crappy and identical units within the building often go for between 1350 and 1500.. I think the price is cheap because of the first floor location, but it's really a non-issue.
I am currently holding this deal open for a day or two for a fellow 2L friend, but it's not likely he'll be able to get out of his current lease so it may still be available. Anyways, as I said, I'd love for another law student to have this place. PM me if interested.
Congrats, again, on your admissions success.

Cool, what made you make that decision? Besides rank? Michigan seems quite far from the D.C./NY area..

that's SO amazingly cheap!
Anyone else get the public interest email today? it feels like perhaps my luck is turning around, unless it wasn't actually a lottery that gave me my first choice... and it was more that I applied as soon as I got the email. yay for having something to do that Tuesday =) I'm excited, especially since I was feeling at a disadvantage by not living in the Aston... this seems like a good alternative way to meet people.

I also got the email today. I'm excited, should be something cool to do for a couple days before orientation. That and I'm moving in the seventh and will have nothing to do before then hah.sibley wrote:that's SO amazingly cheap!

Well, I got my second choice for Tuesday, but I'm still excited about Monday's events. Anybody else revitalizing the school with me?

Also got the email today -- first choice via lottery. I should hit Vegas while I'm still lucky.
Super stoked, though, to go do all this stuff and meet people!

A choice between two different activities for the second day of the Public Interest/Public Service Orientation, which is the two days before regular orientation. Those of us who indicated an interest in public interest law on our applications received an invitation to this two-day event.rejectmaster wrote:i have absolutely no idea what these "choices" are

I indicated such an interest, and never received an invitation. Haha, oh well.

Re: GW Class of 2013
I'm an electrical engineer so GW was a logical choice.. but Michigan was my second choice initially as a 0L, one of my closest friends goes there, and my grades weren't so epic that it'd be entirely crazy to leave (and not much scholarship $). Also, just love college towns -- I intend to work in DC after law school, and feel like I can get the same job from Mich or GW.GermX wrote:Cool, what made you make that decision? Besides rank? Got the email, but not sure how I feel about piling all my classes later in the day and in the evenings. Of course, not sure how I feel about class on Fridays, either.

Section 15 sounds tempting, but I think I'll stick to the regular schedule. I'd rather be reading all afternoon/evening than all morning.

I'd rather read all morning but I'm not confident I'd actually get up and do it if I didn't have to get up for something else first. Plus, I get grouchy at night.Encyclopedia Brown wrote:Section 15 sounds tempting, but I think I'll stick to the regular schedule. I'd rather be reading all afternoon/evening than all morning.

For the same reason, I don't think I'm going to do it. Section 15 is very tempting, but it reminds me of my schedules in college and I don't think that would be very good for my studying.... hahaEncyclopedia Brown wrote:Section 15 sounds tempting, but I think I'll stick to the regular schedule. +1. I think the motivation of having class would be greater than the motivation of having to read in the morning.sibley wrote:I'd rather read all morning but I'm not confident I'd actually get up and do it if I didn't have to get up for something else first. Exactly. I saw "NO FRIDAY CLASSES" and almost replied to the e-mail immediately... but then I actually thought about it. I would not do very well with it.sibley wrote:I'd rather read all morning but I'm not confident I'd actually get up and do it if I didn't have to get up for something else first.Encyclopedia Brown wrote:Section 15 sounds tempting, but I think I'll stick to the regular schedule. Is it safe to assume that all those spots will be filled with people who request it? If not, do they just pick students randomly to fill it out?

Re: GW Class of 2013
Good question. I'd think that more people would want it than are spots, but who knows (especially since we all seem to not)td6624 wrote:Exactly. Also, anyone know the time frame for the other classes? Earliest start/latest finish?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
