I quite enjoyed our get together today at Rocket Bar! Thanks to all the posters (and lurkers!) who went this afternoon. We'll have to check out some other places around town. Personally, I thought it was AWESOME that Rocket Bar had skee-ball! ...flashbacks to Chuckie Cheese!

I'll be missing the neighborhood tours, as I'll have my section service project. I'm not sure about the night out. Is anyone going? Here are the places my RF sent out:

"Meet downstairs at 8pm to hit up Lucky Strike Bowling (Posh Club with Bowling), Vapiano's Italian Restaurant and Bar (Hip-Art Modern with Herb Plants on the Tables), BusBoy's and Poets (Delicious Food, Comfy Couches, Wi-Fi, Coffee, and small culture-stuff bookstore), or Rocketbar (pool, shuffle board, ski ball, video games, and drinks bar)"

I've been to Vapiano's and Bus Boys and Poets and highly recommend both of them.

I'm tempted to check out this bowling place...sounds...interesting...

Hi guys. First time poster here (though I've checked in on this discussion more than a few times!) Orientation officially begins today, but is anyone going to campus just for the information tables? My section's service project isn't today and there are other library tours all week. I feel like I'll just be wondering around aimlessly but I don't want to miss out if everyone else will be going.

I might go by around two for the info tables/library tour. Not sure yet. I have big plans for reading a decent bit of Getting to Maybe today, so that could impact whether I go. Also, rain.

They never said to dress up anywhere that I read. Why would you dress up? I am going in shorts, sandals, and a polo.

I haven't heard anything about work study. The stuff today isn't much except for the service projects. Tomorrow seems to be the important start to orientation.

I would just wear whatever you want. The ASW was casual, so I imagine orientation would be too.

Unitas and I will be casual, so you're not alone!

I believe they'll give us the information on Work Study sometime this week.

I'm so excited to do the Anacostia clean-up project this afternoon!

/sarcasm

Actually this weather is decent for that. I just wish I had more free time this afternoon. I was able to Amazon a couple of my textbooks though.

Mine have not yet. Everyone should make sure they have an account setup with student accounts and request their refund through myaccess.

I did want to show everyone they do have work study jobs listed. here: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/wh/ I am not sure if these are the ones used for 1Ls or not.

Does anybody happen to know the breakdown of the loan disbursement? It doesn't seem to match up well with the "Estimating Your Resources and Expenses" sheet. Its close, but off by enough to make me wonder what's going on.

You won't know all of your classes until after tomorrow when we get our micro groups.

I don't know for sure - that form didn't come with me. If you are doing FWS you won't get that money yet. Their are also fees involved with taking out the loans that comes off the top. I think the difference with fees is a few hundred dollars. The amounts will vary based on total loan amounts.

Alright, so here is a dumb question:

I added my checking account in myaccess and set it up as the account to receive refund payments. Is there something else I need to do to actually "request" the refund? As of now it shows that I have a negative balance but I don't seen anywhere to make the request. My refund history page is blank and the refund account page just tells me which account I have set up to receive refunds and to visit the Payment Profile page if I would like to change that account.

Just found that stupid submit button in myaccess. How long ago were we able to submit the request?

-Sign in on Myaccess:

https://myaccess.georgetown.edu/pls/bni ... P_ValLogin

-Click on the "Student Account" link (4th one down)

-Next page you should see a link that says "Request refund", click on that.

Then there's like some transfer funds now button or something like that.

Well hopefully it won't take too long. It said something about 72 hours, that's not bad. Thanks for the help guys.
