Re: Princeton Law 2013
I did a little bit of legwork and go 15K a year. Its a shame that Cornell is nearly 10K more than most other schools. That sort of offsets any difference that small scholarship makes. Then again, housing is less expensive in Ithaca than at most city schools.acdisagod wrote:congrats, i'm 3.6, 171 and I got 0. I'm gonna try and negotiate and hopefully come away with 10,000 a year.

I called and they said my scholarship file was one of the few they held over from last night. No offer till Monday, which is starting to freak me out as that will only give me about 10 days to make a decision

Can you define "legwork?" With my numbers I'm not expecting anything, but I'd like to weasel anything I can out of them.dakatz wrote:I did a little bit of legwork and go 15K a year. Note that the weather today was record breaking, although still pretty awesome.
Then go with your gut when you get the offer. You can't really know for sure until you see the number, but if it's lower and you still want to take it, that's gotta mean something.
If I remember correctly I think someone had a UT scholly last year and they got some extra.grandslam wrote:I just called. i got 15k/ year. I guess that's pretty good, but cornell is still so frickin expensive. Does anyone know if showing them my UT scholarship will help?
Make your decision now: how much will it take to get you there?Jericwithers wrote:I called and they said my scholarship file was one of the few they held over from last night. No offer till Monday, which is starting to freak me out as that will only give me about 10 days to make a decision

Ok, "legwork" might be an overstatement. I went and spoke with some people in financial aid face to face and told them how much I liked the school. I figured this personalized meeting couldn't hurt, and I also submitted documentation of all my other big scholarship offers and acceptances. Without letting them know of my other offers, I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten anything.vexion wrote:Can you define "legwork?" Re: Princeton Law 2013
Yeah... my only other scholly offer so far (in fact, my only other admission) is to the local state university. And I already withdrew from the finalist position for their full-ride scholarship after depositing at Cornell. Makes me wish I'd applied to a few more T20 just to open up the possibility. :/dakatz wrote:Ok, "legwork" might be an overstatement. Re: Cornell 2013
does anyone know if there is a deposit form cornell requires to accompany the actual deposit? i'm not finding anything on the admitted students website.
also, do they require you to withdraw from pending applications and/or other schools to which you've been admitted?
sorry if this has been answered already!

Same question here... also, does anyone know if sending in the deposit precludes you from possible merit aid (ie, well they've already decided to attend, why give them $?)T14forME wrote:ddo they require you to withdraw from pending applications and/or other schools to which you've been admitted?

I don't think so. Last year I got an additional scholarshipin June, specifically called a merit scholarship.klk wrote:Same question here... also, does anyone know if sending in the deposit precludes you from possible merit aid (ie, well they've already decided to attend, why give them $?)T14forME wrote:ddo they require you to withdraw from pending applications and/or other schools to which you've been admitted?

Anybody else who submitted the required documents weeks ago still waiting for financial aid?

If they don't get back to me tomorrow, I'm going to call. I e-mailed them about it Friday afternoon, so they may still be sifting through e-mails.Jericwithers wrote:Yes, and I am calling them constantly about it lol.
