This year, they only accepted 890 applicants, or 10.4% of the total pool. This is compared to accepting 1158 applicants, or 14.7% of the total pool, last year.

I saw that too! Can't believe that it's only around 10%. They sure know what they are doing. My only criticism is that the article said "Law School," not "School of Law."
Also, wouldn't this mean that the yield would be somewhere around 40%?

Dang, I hope it doesn't get even worse next year.
Looks like UVA extending its ED deadline helped.

So long as the economy picks up, next year should be less competitive than this one.

Yeah I hope that TLS'ers successfully dissuaded that guy from attending Law School. If not, at least he won't be one of our classmates. Then again, he obviously helped us get a hard laugh recently.
How the heck does everyone know how to generate those images with text? I am NOT computer savvy so forgive me if it is really simple. Anyone?

What happens after you send in the deposit? Do you get information about next year? Welcome letter?

When do most UVA TLS'ers plan on moving in? I recently secured a place in Ivy Garden and was planning on moving in the first weekend of August. It'll probably take me three days or so to fully settle in and then I'll just be chilling for a week before orientation I guess.

My status checker updated. Just says I sent both deposits in. No welcome letter unfortunately.

I'll be moving into Jeffersonian on Friday the 13th......

yeah initially my lease began on aug 16, the day /of/ orientation so that sucked. luckily i was able to push it back a few weeks. i think it will be nice to settle in and get to know the area before school starts, since i didn't get a chance to make it out to ASW. i have never even seen this campus! lol, then again i don't think i've ever visited any of the schools i went to before selecting them.

Whatever you do don't go look at Darden before checking out the Law School. Otherwise you'll be really bitter/disappointed when you drive up to the Law School from that direction. The Law School is very pretty from the front and on the inside, but the view you'll get coupled with the image of the business school in mind made me scream a big w.t.f. It made my wife laugh though...

I was able to get a move in date of the 1st of August rather than the 16th (thank God) which is originally what I thought I would have to do. So my girlfriend and I will probably be moving in some time in the first week of August--which will give us plenty of time to get acquianted with the place and un-pack. Both excited.
Question to 1ls: Maybe this is already covered somewhere I should already know but, do we find out anything about our schedules/peer advisors/sections/etc. before we get to orientation?

My lease starts on the 3rd of August. I'll just be using the extra week or two to settle in, get furniture, enjoy the last weeks of freedom for a very long time, etc. We should all meet up for adult beverages ha ha.
