Wow, I missed a lot! I really do need to get a smart phone. I've been busy all day trying to get everything organized with moving in. I did end up going on the bus tour and would have been happy to go with some of you, if I had checked this thread! Brad was my tourguide...anyone else on this bus?
I have twizzlers or axe that I will trade for women's shaving cream, although I'm sure you've already used yours by now, Waterman = )
Love all the awkward "hey! I recognize you from facebook!" encounters.
I'm so excited we're all here!

Move in went well, the bus tour was pretty cool. Anyone else in Gewirz have funky problems with the cable in their bedrooms? My TV is only picking up two channels, 7 and 51.

My cable is working fwiw. Happy to be moved in; long day but things went well. 9th floor seems pretty quiet, whats everyone up to? Anyone going out tonight?

Hahaha okay see I was pretty sure it was you but wasn't sure whether I should address you by your actual name or MSPeast and was trying to avoid being creepy/awkward. I know I'm a little behind everyone, but I'll be moving in today! waiting to board my flight right now. I have a couple of questions.
anyone take a cab from Reagan? how much is it? I'll be travelling with two suitcases so the train might be too much of a hassle.
and does anyone want to go to target today? goal for the day is to buy bedding and a pillow.
hope everyone is having an easy move in!

Safe travels! I have not taken a cab, but Reagan's website might help-- http://www.metwashairports.com/reagan/1193.htmiamtaw wrote:I know I'm a little behind everyone, but I'll be moving in today! waiting to board my flight right now. I have a couple of questions.

Also, there's a small fee for the extra suitcase.

Does anyone know how to request a FA loan refund yet?? Can we tell where our classes are going to meet yet?
My brother just left so I am all alone for the first time ever. Odd..... At least from my room I have a good view of the capitol building and a very good view of the halfway house.
Anyone still with a car, Safeway has a parking garage you can use for free for 90 minutes if you purchase over $5.00.

I was wondering the same thing- if you look on studentloans.gov it lists the disbursement date as 8/20 so hopefully that means we will see it on Monday and be able to request a refund. When I look at refund requests it says I don't currently have a refundable balance. But you can set up your bank account profile so its all ready to go when the loans actually get there.

Is that what that is? A halfway house? I woke up at 4:30 to see some crackheads prancing through the streets...Unitas wrote: My brother just left so I am all alone for the first time ever. Odd..... Hopefully I will run into some of you guys during the events this weekend...
Anyone down to make a Target run around 1 or 2?
Oh yeah, and I have some Playtex sports and shaving cream up for grabs.

Just to clarify, a "metro" run to Target...
You guys want to meet in the gym lobby (nice and cool) around 1:30?

For everyone who is just arriving - you should get yourselves the Metro "Smartrip" cards. You just load it with money and never have to buy the paper fare-cards again. They're also usable on the Metro Buses, making them nearly a necessity for getting around the city without a pocket full of change.
To get one you take the Metro to the the Metro Center stop. There is a kiosk underground there where you can get one (the lines can be long, so budget time accordingly).

Question: Where is the Tower Green? Is that just the area outside Gewirz?

I didn't check TLS for a while, so I'm at Target alone. But, fyi, the Target in Columbia Heights is pretty stocked.

It's Sunday, so that's when they refill everything (new ad). I tried to go yesterday morning and they were out of everything I wanted.Burberry by Burberry wrote:I didn't check TLS for a while, so I'm at Target alone. But, fyi, the Target in Columbia Heights is pretty stocked.

It's the only tower I know of, so I assume that it is the one on the schedule. I"m about to go walk aimlessly, any suggestions?WhatUpKells wrote:Question: Where is the Tower Green? Is that just the area outside Gewirz?

Yeah, I just saw a group of students with rain on them. Darnit. I spent all morning cleaning and setting up my place and now can't walk.MSPeast wrote:It looks like rain.Unitas wrote:It's the only tower I know of, so I assume that it is the one on the schedule. BTW, we are on the same floor, so I've probably seen you too.

I don't know if I've seen you or not (I haven't been wandering the halls much), but based on your room type and view I think I know which room is yours (I stayed in the identical room on 10 over ASW).Unitas wrote:Yeah, I just saw a group of students with rain on them. I need to go to Target later, once it stops raining. Also, I guess 11 has two laundry rooms. I didn't know that.

11 does have two laundry rooms and they are great, because you can go out on the balcony as your laundry is washing and still keep an eye on your clothes.MSPeast wrote:I don't know if I've seen you or not (I haven't been wandering the halls much), but based on your room type and view I think I know which room is yours (I stayed in the identical room on 10 over ASW).Unitas wrote:Yeah, I just saw a group of students with rain on them.
