The student to faculty ratio went down for all of BMVPDN. I wonder if this was a decrease in enrollment or increase of staff. UVa went from 13.5 to 12.6 which is pretty cool. Smaller classes can only help things.

Yeah, this is one area I think UVA could definitely improve (and I hope they keep improving it when we are attending!). I'm glad that the ratio went down.Doritos wrote:The student to faculty ratio went down for all of BMVPDN. I wonder if this was a decrease in enrollment or increase of staff. I think the more important factor for me is the accessibility of the faculty who are there. From what I learned at the ASD and through other conversations, it seems like faculty are pretty accessible, focused on teaching, and take efforts to build a community with the students -- all of which makes me less worried about a higher S/F ratio.
On another note, sooooo psyched for next year! I'm in love with UVA, and I've taken a new liking to the state slogan. People just seem genuinely happy there.

Meh.... every class we take that matters (for the majority of us who I assume are biglaw or bust), and correspondingly the only grades that matter, will be 90+ people aside from Legal Writing, right?Doritos wrote:The student to faculty ratio went down for all of BMVPDN. 1L fall you'll generally take 1 30, 1 60, 1 90, and 1 60 or 90 + LRW (30).
1L spring you'll take 2 60 + LRW (30) + 2 electives (any size).

Gladiator/Vanwinkle/Cavalier/YCrevolution can probably give more informed answers, but from what the professors were saying at the ASW, one of our fall classes will be a "small section." Which one it ends up being depends on which section you're in.D Brooks wrote: What's the 30 person class during the fall aside from LRW?
edit: added YCrevolution, sorry!

I was told additional instructions are forthcoming in MayFeuerFrei wrote:Now that we have been awarded our student loans, what is the timeline on the MPN and anything else we have to sign to secure our loans? Do these come right from UVA now that they are direct lenders?

Does "R" stand for Thursday? (Just making sure. It does seem to be pretty obvious that it is Thursday

Re: UVA Class of 2013
Is anyone else waiting on the GI Yellow Ribbon program?
As deposit deadlines approach it's going to be hard for me to justify the extra 30k per year at UVA.
Has anybody heard any rumors (other than from the VA website) about what the program is going to look like?

Does anyone know about how long it takes Ivy Gardens to assign an apartment/email a lease after electronically sending in an application/security deposit? I applied on the 12th and wanted to know how long to wait before calling and pestering the office.
Finally sent in my seat deposit today, can't wait!

They called me back a few days later. I think I sent in my application on the weekend and my lease was ready later that week.leavingnc wrote:Does anyone know about how long it takes Ivy Gardens to assign an apartment/email a lease after electronically sending in an application/security deposit? Is anyone looking for a roommate in the Jeffersonian or Ivy? I'm starting to get anxious about my chances of getting a place at the Jeffersonian (I was #48), so I figured I should start looking for a roommate. Anyone have a place close to the law school and need a roommate?

Check the Facebook group. There are few people looking for roommates on the discussion board: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=227303070477democrattotheend wrote:Is anyone looking for a roommate in the Jeffersonian or Ivy? For anyone wondering what's going on with the Jeffersonian, I just called and got an update. I'm #48 on the waitlist and she said there are 2 people ahead of me, and 2 apartments left. Both are unfurnished 2 BR's...there are no 1 BR's left. She said there was a pretty good chance I would get one, but if both people ahead of me take them I am out of luck.
