How lax bro of you. I've been thinking about buying a new pair of Wallabees v. investing in a pair of Redwings. What do you think? Aren't Redwings too NYUish?dgouzoul wrote:I own the requisite topsiders and also wallabees for when i want to be a real stud but i abstained from any formality whatsoever at ASW and wore air maxes and high socks

i swung by ivy gardens and ended up asking a random business school student if he minded showing me his unit. he was extremely friendly and helpful and he did mention to me that one of the few drawbacks to living there is the lack of choice with cable tv and internet providers... in that there isn't any. i seem to recall he also said that he didn't get any HD channels -- i could be mistaken, as we didn't spend much time talking about it. i'm sure we won't have much time for tv anyways.billyzane wrote:hey what kind of internet service can we sign up for at ivy gardens? must we use what seems to be the only service, ntc, or can we buy subscribe to some other?

Looks like I've scored myself an apartment at the Jeffersonian, so now I get to begin the process of looking for a roommate. I've got a 2 bdroom unfurnished apartment on the ground floor, rent's 775, so about 390 for each of us, plus electricity and cable or wireless if we want it. August 1st start date.
Other than having accumulated 7k+ posts on TLS, I'm a fairly normal guy; workout a bit, drink socially, decent cook, clean up after myself and respectful of others. I don't ask for much in a roommate other than that they clean up after themselves and be respectful. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

I mean, you've got almost as many posts as I do, and you're a fairly normal guy too, right? Right?vanwinkle wrote:dailygrind wrote:Other than having accumulated 7k+ posts on TLS, I'm a fairly normal guy![]()

Alright. I'm fairly normal for a guy who would accumulate 7k+ posts then. And by that I mean I regularly change and clean my dark trenchcoats, and have once spoken to a girl outside of work functions.

is there something particularly bad about the ntc service, or is the problem just that people like having choices? im an internet tv addict and won't make it through 1L if i don't have a connection strong enough to catch up on my shows on my computer...

Correction: Maybe the poor internet connection is the very thing that WILL help you make it through 1L.virginiagirl55 wrote:

I started out as number 27. I didn't have much interest in the 1 bdroom so I didn't ask, sorry.thepunisher24 wrote:What number on the list were you? I was number 28 originally and received the list yesterday. There are six one-bedroom apartments left. You will pretty much have to choose between a June or August start date.

Congrats all you future UVA 1Ls for getting accepted. I am a 2L now and wanted to make a post about housing for incoming students. My wife and I live in Barracks West Apartments (http://www.barrackswestapartments.com/) and like it there. It is not the most luxurious housing and most people who live there drive instead of walking (about 8 min drive), but it is nice and is pretty fairly priced. I'm posting because they have a $500 referral bonus that I would love to split with anyone who decides to live there. Check them out and PM me if you think you might be interested or if you have any questions you want to ask me about the apartments.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
Just want to post my "Looking-For-Roommate-Ad" again.
Would prefer to live within walking distance of the law school.
Please PM me!
I am: *Male / White / Jewish / West Coast*
Required
- Non-smoker (weed included)
- Party elsewhere (quiet apartment)
- Not a radical liberal/conservative
- Clean in common areas
Recommended
- Nerd (past mmo experience is a plus - it's a subculture in itself)
- Sports fan (this does not include Nascar, seriously)
Message me if you figure we might be able to make it 8 months without plotting each other's demise.

Hey guys, I look forward to attending Cooley with y'all. I'm looking forward to moving to the great state of Michigan and watching the Lansing Lugnuts duke it out against other minor league teams.

Has anlyone else noticed the lack of lay prestige with the law school that we plan on going to? I think it is kind of a humbling experience, although I don't know how to respond when people ask "Why are you going all the way out there?". I'm from the West Coast, so I guess it's understandable, but I do always find it a little odd and a subtle pwn to my ego.
