Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2013
I'm torn on whether to expect any kind of aid. On the one hand, my cycle hasn't been great. No way getting $$$ from my highest-ranked acceptance makes any sense.
On the other hand, my LSAT is at the 75th and my GPA isn't too horrendous. What happens with scholarship money when all the 174/3.8 folks turn down the $$$ to go to Chicago, Columbia, etc.?
Ahhh when do we find out?

Waiting for this news is by far the most stressful part of the application process, since grant/scholarship $ is the make or break factor for me.LieutKaffee wrote:I'm torn on whether to expect any kind of aid. Also, I'm sorry I won't be at the ASW. I visited on my own a few weeks ago and was really impressed. Hope everyone has a good time!

Always a possibility. I mean, why should Northwestern be the only school in the top 17 to accept me?Corsair wrote:Or the victim of an elaborate punking.LieutKaffee wrote:Woo hoo got the binder thing. I guess I'm really in!

I definitely didn't believe my first "in" email, especially since you can't see the official letter yet. (And because NU is the school that accidentally sent acceptance emails to bus school applicants who had been rejected.) The binder is totally what made it real for me.LieutKaffee wrote:Woo hoo got the binder thing. I guess I'm really in!

I didn't even get the "in" email that had access to the admitted students site. I just got the "check your status checker" email. I was pretty sure they made a mistake until I talked to someone at the admissions office and they gave me access to the admitted students site.Holly Golightly wrote:I definitely didn't believe my first "in" email, especially since you can't see the official letter yet. This is really dependent on the quality of the show. NO PRESSURE.Corsair wrote:I will expect to see everyone who comes to ASW at the bar after Wigmore Follies. I COMMAND IT.

Hello friends! Just got in today and I'm excited. I grew up in NYC and have lived in DC for four years, so Chicago would be an interesting change. I hope the financial aid gods smile upon me, but kinda doubt it. Well yay anyway.

Not to be a creep, but what hotels are people staying at for the ASW? Did anyone get a good NU rate or just book online?

I'm staying at the Wyndham and booked through hotels.com. Looks really close to NU on google maps, seems like a nice place, and was cheaper than other 4 star hotels in the area.chutzpah wrote:Not to be a creep, but what hotels are people staying at for the ASW? I also booked through Hotels.com. I watched the rates for awhile then booked at the Inn of Chicago. It's in walking distance and the deal was better than any of the other ones I saw and the reviews seemed okay. I ended up being about 75 a night with the taxes they add at the end.

Even though I live in the NW burbs, I think I'll get a hotel for those nights.

In Chicago right now and staying at the inn of Chicago. Location is amazing and everything else is more than I expected for the cost. It's got my recommendation so far.AddyO wrote:AngryAvocado wrote:I'm staying at the Wyndham and booked through hotels.com.
