I don't think this was an April Fools thing, but I love Gmail's Mail Goggles:

Does anyone know in which ways the school is hoping to improve itself? I think the new law building is obviously huge but what is their next focus?

Re: Rutgers-Camden Class of 2013
I got the impression that they're going to continue to push their clerkships pretty hard. Having someone clerk for a SCOTUS judge plus another on a federal appeals court is pretty big for a school of it's rank. I think there are also some really impressive professors there. The Dean made it pretty clear that they are well respected in their field but also really good at teaching. I think in the future, and this goes for most schools I'd assume, is that they'll start to even out theory with practical lawyering skills so that right out of the gate Rutgers grads can be a benefit to their employer. I think they know that's a fine line though; schools that "teach to the bar" are often looked down on.GoodToBeTheKing wrote:Does anyone know in which ways the school is hoping to improve itself? On then that, I'm really not sure. More sandwiches and cheaper coffee at the cafe wouldn't hurt. ;]

Anyone catch what we get with the activity fee? I think it's over $600 a year. I'm guessing access to the gym and printing. Anything else? Anyone check out the workout facilities?

I looked at the gym: weight machines & free weights, cardio equipment, endless pool, one group fitness room w/ some classes posted. Some tvs. Pretty nice but nothing spectacular.
Goodtobeking: The revamp of the new law building isn't complete yet so I'd imagine that will continue to be a focus in the next few years. As you walk through the building you will see that some sections are new and beautiful while other parts are older and yet to be redone. This was especially noticeable on the upper levels of the library which have old desks and exposed walls.

I am not able to create an id either.
I booked my flight for April 19th and will visit the school April 20th. I can't wait! My flight from LAX is at 6:30 am. This I am not so excited about
Do I need to have my official transcript sent in at the same time as my seat deposit or can I send it after (even if it's after my may 1st deadline)?

Yes and no. I set it up with no problem, but it took probably 24 hours before I could use it to log-in to anything rather than the 30 min they quote. Probably another day before I could use it to get into my Rutgers e-mail, and then another day before it would recognize my NetID to link it to the law school's system. Now I seem to have universal access except for Resident Life to view/sign housing contracts. I'll probably call tomorrow to see if they can rectify the situation.kissy wrote:anyone else having trouble creating a NetID?
It has definitely been a pain.

So what's everyone's plan from now until June, or August if you aren't taking the summer course? For me, I've been taking advantage of my local grocer's wine and beer deals.

I just can't believe the whole application process is finally coming to a close. Looking back to when I first started studying for the LSAT and looking into law schools, almost makes me sad, almost.

Im traveling my ass off...plan to hit Miami, cruise to South America, visit some friends in Houston, and (of course) hit Vegas!!! We are going to prison for three years - make the most of this freedom; only work if you must, and if you must, work as little as possible.jasonac21 wrote:Well, it sounds like you've gotten further than most of us.Sclerenchyma wrote:Yes and no. Traveling as well. Planning on taking a few weeks to a month to travel the PCH from San Diego to Vancouver. Should be fun.

Sounds great. If I wasn't going to LS I'd probably move to Peru and travel around South America. Love it there. Have you decided on Rutgers for sure dp?dp73816 wrote:

I went from (near) LA to San Fran on the PCH. Such an amazing drive. You ever hear California One / Youth and Beauty Brigade by the Decemberists? If not, I'd recommend it.Sclerenchyma wrote:Traveling as well. Planning on taking a few weeks to a month to travel the PCH from San Diego to Vancouver. Should be fun.

+1 this is one of my dreams! I may have to do it when I move from LA to back home in SF... I have taken the 101 from SF to LA before but that was a while ago.
My plans for from now until August are:
1. quit my job
2. move back home for a month
3. go on vacation early June to Miami
4. go to Vegas one last time before hell begins
5. backpacking trip up in Nor Cal with my buddies for a week
6. move to where ever I go to school (which may be Rutgers if I don't hear positive news from San Diego or maybe Santa Clara).

I finally got my Rutgers shirt... not that impressive. I was expecting the shirt that all the students are wearing on the school's website. But, hey, at least its better than what other schools have given me - a wait list.
