Or maybe we could do it this way... If you're a laid back, down to earth, relatively well-kept and clean guy and you are interested in rooming with someone, PM me.

Or if you're a sexy girl who likes to cook, clean, and walk around the apartment with no clothes on, PM me. I wouldn't mind rooming with you either.
have you considered not having a roommate? for me, not having a roommate makes things so much simpler.

I definitely want a roommate. For one, it keeps costs down. And two, I can't imagine not having someone around the house. I don't wanna just be some lonely sap with his cat.

Any of you guys know how St. Louis' art scene is? Decent?

What neighborhood do you think houses the most galleries?

I'm definitely trying to live among galleries but not over a 30 min walk/bike ride from AB Hall. Any ideas?

Good afternoon, everyone! I just wanted to get on board with this thread, since I am currently about 99% sure that I will be attending in the fall...

Sorry to have been a lurker for so long, I was on a self-imposed TLS posting exile until I was more sure about where I wanted to attend. When I saw this thread, I have to say, I was impressed with the posters that are here...

Romo and Strato, I've been a fan of your posts... More than one has garnered a hearty chuckle on other threads!

For jks289... If it is any consolation at all, I think I had the EXACT same experience you did with $ negotiation. Received my rejection of an increase... Sent a confirmation reply back to the school, and shortly thereafter received an exceedingly curt response. THEN (to rub salt in the wound) I received a THIRD "we're still considering you for more $$" e-mail AFTER I was told in no uncertain terms that I would not be considered for further aid. After I bandaged up my damaged pride, I chalked it up to the fact that they have to be extremely busy at this time of year.

It still stung a little, I have to admit.

Anyway! Permission to come aboard?

yeah my main priority is to be super close, walking distance. so ucity/the loop is def #1.

i guess having a roomie would be better for moving into a new city and having someone to socialize with it. but idk how it would fly academically, especially your 1L year.

I'm a current wustl undergrad, so I thought I'd help out with the housing thoughts. I live in U-City near Clayton, not in the Loop. My area is incredibly safe, quiet, affordable with roommates. Lots of pretty trees and a nice park with tennis courts on my street. I walk to class every day (including today, beautiful!). Getting to the law school takes me less than 10 minutes. Drive is < 5 minutes (I only do that when it's cold, or when I'm running late).

I rent from the small company I link to below. I fully intend to live in the same neighborhood. I'll probably stay in my 3 bedroom on Pershing and get new roommates because moving is a bother. If I moved, I would move to one of the slightly nicer apartments on my street from the same people.

Hi, thanks for posting here! Can you speak to properties in the Loop? People are saying that the area is a little sketchy, have you heard that to be true?

Does anyone here think that having a roommate might be a distraction? I'm seriously considering absorbing greater housing costs so that I can focus completely on the task at hand.

Also, I am 90% on Wash U and am making a trip friday. Super excited!

I think that this is completely a personal decision. I'm going to be living alone because I'm the kind of person that likes to have some peace when I come back home at the end of the day. This coupled with some bad roommate drama in the past makes paying the extra couple of hundred a month well worth the cost.

Absolutely! Welcome aboard. Glad you find my humor somewhat entertaining. Glad I'm not some douchey-gunner like najumobi and nyyankees. (kidding). I'm excited to meet everyone in the fall.

And yeah, WUSTL's new website is pretty sharp!

PS. Anybody know how to access the admitted student's page now? I can't seem to find the link on the new website.

If you are 90% already, I think that percentage will go up after your visit. The school is awesome.

I couldn't find it at first either. You have to click on the Admissions tab instead of just hovering over it. Then the link is in the lower right corner of the page.

I'm looking at apartments here:

http://www.barronrealty.com/search.php? ... ea=Clayton

Seriously, if any guys are interested in rooming together, I'm definitely interested. I'd like to get the ball rolling on finding a place ASAP. A little about me:

-In undergrad now (in my early 20s)
-Pretty clean overall. My room may get messy at times, but I clean up after myself in common areas
-I have a cat. (I know, I know... hopefully this isn't a deal-breaker) He is mischievous, but overall pretty well-behaved.
-I like to go out and drink, and I plan to do so a few times a week (except leading up to finals)
-I plan to be pretty studious in law school, and I don't think my personal habits will detract from anyone's studies.
-My general interests: Watching sports, golfing, video games, and going out on the town
-Not a serial killer. For real.

If anyone is interested in having a roommate next year, I think I'd be a decent choice. I'm pretty laid back and get along with most people, and I promise not to be a pain via any of the typical means (being too loud, being drunk or obnoxious, being a mess, not paying utilities, etc.) PM me and we can discuss further.

'ey romo,

you like to play golf? Me too. I noticed on google maps that there is a 9-hole course near Wash U. What's the skinny on it? Does it have a range?

Little late, but it's Main Site => Admissions => bottom right of the page. Evidently they've opened up the admitted students website to everyone... not that the previous ID/Password combo were keeping many people out anyway

can't say i had an real complaints. the landlord / property manager lived in the complex so i just walked over to his place to drop the rent check off in his mailbox. he'd also accept packages for people that weren't home. They setup was 4 side by side units with one unit on ground floor and one on top floor (so 8 units per building). Rent was like 550 or so and they were really good about not raising it. There was a pool.

The cons (and this is just about the specific complex i lived in):
There was a storage area in the basement, but it consistently flooded. You had to stack items on raised floors made of wood to make sure water didn't get to them. Whenever you would go down there it would be damp and gross.. i chose not to store anything.

There was not in-unit laundry, but they did have a laundry room on-site. But you had to walk outside to get to the laundry room. After owning a place w/ in-unit laundry i want to avoid a situation without in-uniit laundry for the rest of my life if possible.

I've also lived and have friends who lived in WUSTL owned apartments. so I can give perspective on that if anyone would like to know. Or if people want to know about areas of the city in general.

High level... I wouldn't live in The Loop. While it's not dangerous like East St. Louis, it's one of the more dangerous areas. Plus weird things happen there because everyone is drunk in that area. My understanding is that most law students choose to live in Central West End, which is really nice.
