Thanks for showing up guys. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go get my new voicebox installed, as my vocal cords are now shot. Close to two weeks of almost non stop talking finally caught up to me about 20 minutes ago.

Re: Duke Class of 2013
Side question.
I like my apartment (in a apartment complex), but one of the adjacent renters (either behind, below, or behind and below) has his music playing and bass up all the time. The sound is noticeable usually all day until 9 or 10 p.m. It's basically impossible to concentrate on anything because of the bass.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Speak to him about it. See if there is a compromise schedule between what hours you are most interested in studying and what hours he most likes to play his music, or if he can turn down the bass atleast. You can also check if there are any apartment community rules about music volume or "quiet hours."franklinlincoln wrote:Side question.

Besides that it looks like you need to find another place to do your work until 11pm.
Perhaps a more creative solution is to hire a really big dude to intimidate him to turn down his music.

That's probably right. I guess it just bothers me that it's constant.Jericwithers wrote:Speak to him about it. I kind of wish that the default was no-noise. As in, if you want to blast music, get an isolated place. But it seems like it's the opposite: if you don't want to hear the noise, get an isolated place.

This should handle the problem without creating too much additional noise. You know, don't wanna cause a fuss and thus create a problem similar to the one you're complaining about. HTHfranklinlincoln wrote:Side question.

That's ridiculous. I'd tell the management and see if they can do anything about him. If not, apartment complexes are all pretty similar; you can find a new place. I don't see talking to him as being all that helpful: even if you can get him to only play his music half the time, is that really something you want to listen to all year? It depends on whether you want to do anything in your apartment other than sleep.

60/40 m/f ratio? That can't be right.
Also, remind me not to make a noise in the library when thickfreakness is there

If you're in Station Nine, you're a bit ridiculous. It's still summer, people are still partying non-stop, and Station Nine is party central. You can ask him to reduce the bass, which is fine, but it's daytime hours, not night, and it's in a complex whose main selling point is that it's one giant party.
Study in the library. Or not at all. Studying should be secondary to having fun and drinking at Dain's. Seriously, go introduce yourself to Dain, thank me later.
Also, management will do nothing for you. Vanessa is going to be the worst human being you meet.

Our acceptance rate was 13.2%. That's lower that all but HYS and Berkeley last year.

Given that plus the fact that our LSAT median is now 170... is a giant USNWR jump in the cards? I could care less, it'd just be entertaining to watch UVa fanboys panic.

All of this begs the question... How the hell did losblancos get into Duke? Furthermore, how the hell did he actually manage to get money?
And why is my section so good at softball?

Re: Duke Class of 2013
I believe I can answer both questions with one answer. They let in a large group of sub-par applications (securing their matriculation with unwarranted scholarships) and then stuck them all in the same section in order to field the best softball team ever seen at Duke Law in hopes of winning the Law School World Series.los blancos wrote:quakeroats wrote: Our acceptance rate was 13.2%. Just kidding; I'm sure if excellent softball ability was the critical factor they still could have done better than you.
