Agreed! What are you all up to this summer? How many of you will be in and around the city?

I'll be in the city, working until sometime in July, then giving myself a month or so to relax and cower in fear.

I'm pretty damn stoked to meet all you folks, as well. Perhaps a happy hour is in order for the people who are here in NYC already?

@law.nyu.edu would be a different mail server, so no. You could make it firstname.lastname.law@nyu.edu if you wanted, though. (I had to do firstname.middleinitial.lastname@nyu.edu, and I think pretty much anything is acceptable.)

This is what it seems like to me too, except that if you look at the law school directory many of the students have ***@law.nyu.edu e-mail addresses. If I decide I really care about changing mine this summer I'll contact IT and ask them (and let you all know), otherwise I'll probably just see what's up at orientation.

It says something about "not being able to confirm this alias" if you try to do that. Maybe they don't have confirmation that we're actually law students (as opposed to just NYU students of some sort) until the second deposit or until orientation.

I have both listed (the first as "NYUHome address" and the second as both "Personal address" and "NYU directory address").

I used first.middleinitial.last@nyu.edu because my first.last combination was already taken, but I assume that makes no difference.

Sometimes you need to tell both sides about the forwarding. So not only would you tell NYU to forward it to the other address, but you would tell the other address to look for and accept forwarded emails from NYU.

(I don't really have any idea because I just submitted my deposit on Friday and I haven't received my email yet)

Thanks for the advice. I looked into everything and there doesn't seem to be any problem on my part--maybe it's taking awhile for me to get into the system. I'll just get in touch with IT.
