Re: Columbia 2013
I got my housing on 5/7/10, with the offer expiring 5/12/10. They really don't give you much time to think about...
I applied in early April I think, but I think someone told me that there's a lottery for everyone who applied by the May 1 deadline.

anyone know if we can actually go (or send someone) to check out the apartment. I applied for Lionsgate and we really would not like to spend that much money unless we can get a look at the apartment.

Did anyone else apply for housing in March and not get his or her assignment yet?
I'm hoping the e-mail didn't somehow end up in my spam folder

I think you should be able to check your housing status by looking in the e-mail with the subject "housing application received - [name]." they have an applicant ID / password you can put in to see what step of the process you're at. I'm still under review

Yes. There are instructions on how to pay with a credit card in the email.

Re: Columbia 2013
in response to someone's question about visiting: you can, and you have to first go to UAH's office and request a visitor's pass to give to the super.
also - CALL in advance and confirm that your apartment, or a comparable one, is unoccupied and available for viewing. I made the mistake of calling and asking how to visit, but not checking about this - and went to UAH only to be told my apartment nor any other in the building was not available for viewing. hooray.

For those who got their assignments already, when is your move-in date?

I asked this somewhere else already. But I did not like that answer. Is the security deposit a must through all law school housing?lemonpie wrote:For those who got their assignments already, when is your move-in date?

Re: Columbia 2013
I called the housing office yesterday b/c im going abroad and was worried about the whole 'you have 5 days to accept and pay us all your savings thing'. somewhat not surprisingly, they told me they couldnt do anything and I should have my friend check my email everyday for me. thanks columbia. but I digress...
they said that assignments go out generally based on move-in date. so if you requested (and they are planning on giving you) a move-in date in august, you might be waiting until june. hth

I requested an August move-in date, so that does help. Thanks, julesm!julesm2200 wrote:they said that assignments go out generally based on move-in date. so if you requested (and they are planning on giving you) a move-in date in august, you might be waiting until june. hth

My move-in date is the first full week of August and I got my assignment this week after applying in April. So I don't think the theory holds.

Re: Columbia 2013
That makes me sad because I applied way back in March. It seems like they just randomly pull apps out of the pile with no method or reason (and then lie about their system).julesm2200 wrote:damn housing people lied to me! what is this world coming to?!protokurios wrote:My move-in date is the first full week of August and I got my assignment this week after applying in April. I think they changed the deadline to June 1st while they figure everything out (see the top of this page).iminlstrick wrote:Has anyone figured out what's going on re: Federal Loans? They're all "transitioning to direct" on their site, but loan app deadline is today?

Re: Columbia 2013
So I called for some other things last week and they sent me to https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action to fill out the applications for the student loans. It seems everything will be done through this site now. It was quick and painless and took all of five minutes.maudlinstreet wrote:I think they changed the deadline to June 1st while they figure everything out (see the top of this page).iminlstrick wrote:Has anyone figured out what's going on re: Federal Loans? If any incoming 1Ls are going to be in NYC this summer, and are looking for housing, I am subletting my university apartment through early August. I am a rising 2L.
