I'll be looking for roommates as well. Hopefully that survey form becomes available soon.

How soon after you sent your email did you get the "we are hopeful" email? It's been about a week since I've sent mine and I haven't gotten a response yet... :/
It wasn't for at least a week if I remember correctly. I'm sure they will get back to you pretty soon, probably just a busy time for them.

I got two of these emails, too. One was less than a day after I wrote inquiring about additional aid and the other was several days later, from a different address.

I'm guessing they are sending those emails out in batches so yea I'm thinking I'll get one soon! *fingers crossed*

Also I'm planning on living in U-City/Loop but probably won't get roommates. Anybody else thinking of living there, for curiosity's sake?

Haven't really done a lot of research on where to live, but as a splitter I've never really worked that hard in high school or college, and I'm going to try to turn that around...I've heard U-City/Loop is pretty noisy and full of undergraduates? I'd like to find somewhere quiet and boring, I think - away from temptation.

I'd recommend Brentwood Forest. It is reasonably priced (especially since most utilities are included), and is only a ten minute drive from campus. It is a quiet community, but it still is mostly young professionals and graduate students (with a few young families and a scattering of old people).

What about places closer to campus, if you like to walk to school. Is that possible?

Anybody have any success with negotiation? So far it doesn't sound like it is going well for people.

thanks man, one of my fave quotes ever.

and that housing date sounds intriguing.

so far ucity/the loop sounds like the frontrunner for place to live.

Put down my initial deposit. At this point, the choice is between WUSTL and BU for me, although I'm still waiting for over a dozen schools to render decisions.

I've heard it's sketchy as well. I'm going to look at apartments in Clayton or one of the high rises in the Central West End.

It seems as though CWE is the popular place for law students (from a couple of current students that I talked to). I'm looking into U-City because I don't mind noisy and I'd rather be able to walk to campus if I want to.

looking at apartments in CWE. i'm okay with having to drive (5-8min) to school and taking a 20-25 minute bus ride when it snows.

I hear that's the coolest neighborhood. a bit pricey but when you compare it to other cities... I mean, come on!

I've been looking around on Craigslist for apartments. I am absolutely loving the prices. I love all the vintage apartments.

I wish WUSTL would upload that survey form. I want to start looking for rommates ASAP so we can start looking for somewhere to live ASAP.

Or maybe we could do it this way... If you're a laid back, down to earth, relatively well-kept and clean guy and you are interested in rooming with someone, PM me.

Or if you're a sexy girl who likes to cook, clean, and walk around the apartment with no clothes on, PM me. I wouldn't mind rooming with you either.

have you considered not having a roommate? for me, not having a roommate makes things so much simpler.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
