Jew27? That's priceless, esp considering your avatar.Jericwithers wrote:Ya lol I thought the double/tripple locker signup was interesting as well (I'll be dropping my single if that strategy works). Lol, my parents have a cruel sense of humor. All my assigned roommates freshman year were jewish as well (but I'm not--although I consider converting if they'll have me). Does it list my name, or just my ID?pelmen74 wrote:Jew27? I envy whoever has locker # 13. 'owl' has to be the easiest login name ever.

Re: Duke Class of 2013
Ok. Most of the lockers are in the hallway behind the blue lounge, which is on the same floor as Star Commons and the Refractory. It is the first open area on the left if you walk down that hallway, the one with the blue chairs and tables. Before the renovations and the addition of Star Commons, that used to be the common area. Yes, it seems like it is way too tiny, but in days of yore law students were smaller I guess. Also it wasn't nice, so we never had to fight undergrads for space like we do now.
I got a locker last year with my roommates, but I never used it. But then again, I never used my locker in high school and middle school either, so there you go. Lockers come in three flavors: the large full length lockers (three people per), the half size lockers (two people), and the tiny lockers (one person). It doesn't matter this year, but in the future I would actually suggest the large three person lockers. Why? Because you can fit a suit in there. That way, if you have an interview on campus you don't have to wear it all day and get it wrinkled.
The folders are again on the same floor. If you start at star commons and again walk down the hallway, they are on the right, past the blue lounge. Very hard to miss. Your LARW should be the only class that uses them, and really just to give back your memos. Mostly you will just get a bunch of junk, and some notices of events.
LARW is graded across the whole year. So, while you don't GET a grade this semester, the stuff you do counts toward your grade NEXT semester.
What else? Ah, money. The loans should have been released to the university on Friday. If I remember correctly, I think it took about a week for the money to make it way to our bank accounts last year, so expect it sometime after classes start. If you signed up for direct deposit that is. If you didn't (like me last semester), you will be waiting another month.

Does anyone have any connections with UNC students or faculty? One of our professors is from UNC and their exam archive is restricted to current students and faculty.

Just finished my LARW assignment and did some of the exercises in the back of the chapters... my conclusion: the LSAT really was useful and I'm glad I wasn't terrificly bored studying for it.

I'm in the same boat. Was it just me or was that book not on the list of books for the class (on the bookstore site)?
Also, the document with the list of common legal wiring errors (on the class blackboard page) was good for a couple laughs.

Just got them in stock. Purchased mine on the 10th, delivered the 13th with the free shipping option. I would let someone borrow mine, but I probably wont finish the reading tonight (fears of inception as well).

Re: Duke Class of 2013
How are they doing LARW sections this year? My class, the LARW sections were composed of bits and peices from every section (Basically, they took three LEAD groups and smashed them together). The year before that LARW was completely people from your section, and I think the year before that they combined people from 2 section together to make groups. What did they do this year?

Go to Ross or Old Navy or something and buy some cheap slacks. You will need them eventually anyway.pelmen74 wrote:Nice dark jeans for tmrw, yay or nay?

x2. Jeans aren't comfortable in hot, humid weather anyway. Tropical weight wool trousers or %100 cotton trousers would be far more comfortable. If you're really bold, wear some seersucker pants but I think just getting cotton dress slacks should do the trick.Reedie wrote:Go to Ross or Old Navy or something and buy some cheap slacks. Steinmart on Franklin St. in Chapel Hill. They've usually got really good deals on nice clothes. I'd try there if you strike out at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, or another place.

Definitely no jeans for "business casual". Suit pants will be fine--even if they're not particularly stylish.pelmen74 wrote:Nice dark jeans for tmrw, yay or nay?

Re: Duke Class of 2013
Does anyone have Richard K. Neumann and Sheila Simon, "Legal Writing" for 160A-08?
I ordered it last Wednesday, but the Bookstore says the order will not be ready until Aug. 26. I was hoping to borrow it for 30-45 minutes to do the readings for our first class.
Or, alternatively, has anyone been able to pick up their books early from the Bookstore?
