ok..for those who have already ordered your books on Amazon, did you pay tax on those textbooks? I was just told that NYS exempts sale tax on textbooks, but clearly Amazon does really care. I paid 8% sale tax on every single book I ordered through Amazon, and is now talking to their Customer Service trying to get my money back.

I paid sales tax on all book through Amazon. I ordered from California, but had the billed and shipped in NY. Let us know if they give you your money back.

Didn't pay any taxes shipping to NJ.

Gorge jumping is fun and very chill. Going again tomorrow afternoon at 3. Bring sneakers, booze, maybe a beach ball.

Also, a little thing at my place roundabouts 11. Tell everyone.

There's a place by the Ithaca watershed where you can jump into some super deep water from these rock ledges. They start at about 5 feet and go up to 30 feet or so. I'm terrified of heights, but I tried it today. It is indeed very cool.

Tomorrow at 3!

Try 60. :P

It was this really idyllic reservoir surrounded by trees and hills. I think the thing to do is bring a cooler or a canoe. But I looked, and the cheapest I can get a canoe is like $400. And I don't have $400...

did you go to six mile gorge, aka 2nd dam? or did u go on campus? or somewhere else?

i'm curious, like a cat. that's why my friends call me whiskers.

EDIT: given above, it sounds like 2nd dam. was there a little building on the side where u walk up that says "Jesus Saves"? see Como's 'tar for a visual of what i'm talking about.

Yes, we (apparently) went to 2nd dam. It is very fun. Getting onto that little Jesus Saves building is difficult... I pondered making the "leap of faith" *snicker*, but I like my limbs intact.

the jumps from that side are better anyway. there's the one that's an intermediate distance from the water (like 15-20 feet above the building), by the tree...and then there's one like 10-15 feet above that. that high one will actually leave you sore afterwards.

hot dam that place is awesome. can't wait to get back to Ithaca and go to there. congrats on finding it so soon.

I'm a little late getting back to you guys, but who still wants to go to NYC? I'll post a Facebook event. I'm thinking leave at 4 tomorrow? Do you all trust me to find a hotel room or something? I don't really know what the best area of the city would be to stay in nightlife-wise, but I can find something cheap.

I figure this is as good a place to ask as any: does anyone have a really badass drill? I've got a little $20 9.6V Black & Decker, and it won't tear holes in my old wooden window frames like I need it to.

You can usually rent tools at places like Home Depot and Lowes. Might be worth looking into.

I know! This time next week we'll be in classes and missing the summer. Not sure what you mean by the Cornell homepage.
http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/ is the law school site.
If you're looking for your class info etc http://blackboard.cornell.edu/

Ithaca will be a party too, we just need to drink enough to forget where we are.
