Congrats, that's a great offer. I would take Minnesota at this point. Think of how much you'd be paying just to move up a few ranking spots with Texas. Of course, if you want to live and work in Texas, it's hard to turn down UT.

I haven't gotten a decision yet either way, but as every day passes by, Minnesota looks better and better to me. I'm going to try writing up a LOCI this weekend or early next week.

My targets are WUSTL/UIUC/Minnesota/Wisconsin, but I think I want to live in a big city. They're all pretty equal placement-wise, so I'm just trying to weigh scholarship offers with where I would feel most comfortable living. WUSTL was my top choice, but their CSO is being a bit shifty with their placement statistics and word is they're out of scholarship money.

Just got home from looking at apartments in Minneapolis all weekend. Found an awesome place in uptown; pumped to move to the Twin Cities in a few weeks!

I looked in the Uptown area (CARAG, ECCO, East Isles, the area on the southern border of Uptown by the cemetery, Loring Park, and northeast of Uptown between it and Loring Park (in Whittier, I think)). I looked at one bedrooms and studios.

In general, the places south of Uptown by the cemetery were very nice and very quiet. However, there wasn't really anything to do down there within walking distance. It was a very quiet and nice residential area, but grocery, bars, etc. are a bus ride away.

I didn't really like Loring Park or the area in between it and Uptown, which I think is Whittier. The rents were cheaper in these areas, but there wasn't much within walking distance and the neighborhoods and apartments weren't as nice.

Most of the places I looked at were in Uptown. I highly recommend the area, especially any places west of Hennepin. I also advise against going east of Lyndale.

I did seven corners also. Did you do Seven Corners Apartments of Studios at Seven Corners? I did the apartments which are right across the street from the law school.

Moving out to Minneapolis in mid-June. I'll probably try to find some volunteering thing or something for 10-20 hours a week. Beyond that, just taking it easy until law school starts. You?

How much were the studios uptown? I've settled on a studio near the school at seven corners.

Most of the studios I looked at in Uptown were around $600 or $650 per month, with all utilities except electric and cable/internet included.

i'd trade in the dvd recordable drive for a lighter model any day.....but maybe it's worth it to just suck it up and buy a netbook. windows 7 over vista was a good catch though, i'm kind of excited for that
