Look in Arlington (Rosslyn neighborhood or more south) such as Pentagon City and such... I've seen some decent studio apartments in Rosslyn going for $1250, everything included (cable, internet, utilities, etc). I'm probably going to be looking in this area!Rayjay wrote:Does anyone know where to find housing that is affordable, but maybe on the same metro line as GWU or do I just have to accept that I'm gonna be paying some absurd price for rent?

Re: GW Class of 2013
From what I've seen, Columbia Heights, UStreet and Cleveland Park all have somewhat reasonable prices. Though I don't know too much about DC neighborhoods, I've been told they are decent places. That said, none of them will get you directly to GWU without a transfer on the train, or taking the bus, though google maps puts them all at about a 30 minute commute.Rayjay wrote:Does anyone know where to find housing that is affordable, but maybe on the same metro line as GWU or do I just have to accept that I'm gonna be paying some absurd price for rent?

Is anyone considering a roommate? If so, how are you conducting your roommate search? I initially wanted to live alone, but saving money is more important to me at this point. I'm actually moving to the area this weekend because my job has transferred. So I plan to check out the neighborhoods, and hopefully find a roommate before fall. Are sites like roomster or roommates.com reliable?

Serious. This may be the biggest commitment I've ever made in my life. I feel like I just got engaged or something.sibley wrote: me too!! kinda scary.

I'll be withdrawing today. $105K back in the bank. I really liked GWU and I already feel slight pangs of regret in my stomach. But in the end I decided to take Georgetown's $. I still intend to apply to the GW-Oxford summer program, which I expect will be one of the best experiences in my law school career. Hopefully I'll see some of you there. Good luck everyone. I hope my scholarship money makes it into some of your student accounts.

ok I need some apartment advice. where would one live if one doesn't want to have to take any motorized vehicles to class, walks slowly, and doesn't want to spend more than $1375 on rent, including utilities? and, uh, also likes decently sized kitchens and separate bedrooms?

If the separate bedrooms comment indicates that you're considering a 2-BR w/roommate, and you're willing to spend up to your full amount, you'll be o.k. in a variety of neighborhoods that are within walking distance of GW.sibley wrote:

no... it indicates that I'd prefer to look at apartments that are not studiosjfonz wrote:If the separate bedrooms comment indicates that you're considering a 2-BR w/roommate, and you're willing to spend up to your full amount, you'll be o.k. in a variety of neighborhoods that are within walking distance of GW.sibley wrote:

^ that's going to be pretty tough. The market for 1BRs in neighborhoods within moderate walking distance of GWU probably bottoms out around $1450/mo. I won't say that what you're describing is impossible, it's just highly unlikely.
You might be able to find something in Glover Park or Cathedral Heights, but neither of those areas are really within comfortable walking distance of the law school, IMO.

I would say after you apply for the "loans" and after the 2nd seat deposit which is due in June.td6624 wrote:uhhh kind of a random question here, but when do we get school e-mail addresses and stuff? or did i already miss the boat on that?

Re: GW Class of 2013
yeah I agree with after the 2nd seat deposit. all you have to do with the loans is accept them or accept partials so not really that...ryguy wrote:I would say after you apply for the "loans" and after the 2nd seat deposit which is due in June.td6624 wrote:uhhh kind of a random question here, but when do we get school e-mail addresses and stuff? or did i already miss the boat on that?

I found a studio (in a building with a ton of studios.... so they're always available) like a block from the school that I might look into. There's another building .5 miles away that'd give me much nicer digs for the same price.terpette wrote:I wasn't fast enough for this...anyone have any other things to say about housing?mi-chan17 wrote:+1Always Credited wrote:the aston is where its at.
