If you have a car, Villa Diner is open late and makes decent pancakes (above average but yawningly inferior to the heavencakes served by Bluegrass Grill and Bakery).

I'm from the Northeast and I am finishing up UG in the Midwest. Doesn't midway through Virginia mark the unofficial cut-off of "the South?" Do natives of Charlottesville consider themselves part of the South? Is there a good spot where I can get some grits in C-ville?

From my understanding, the cutoff is south of Maryland the Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington suburbs. Once you get south or west of Virginia (West Virginia and North Carolina), it's all the south until Florida, where the same rule as in Maryland and Virginia applies.

Don't believe me? The McDonalds in western Maryland have R.E.L. mock-ups in their display cases.

Charlottesville is much more the "where do you summer? Hilton Head?" kind of South than the grits-eating kind of South.

As a law student, you'll buy your burritos at Chipotle before it closes and then whip them out while drunk. People around you will stare and ask "Are you in law school?".

Has anybody been able to get their UVA email recently? I know a few people got them earlier in the thread, but I paid my first deposit back on Thursday, and I am still getting error messages when I try to set it up. Do I have to pay both deposits to get it, or perhaps did they change it so I won't get it until April or so?

Just signed up for the April 9 ASW!! So excited. Going out to see UVA for the first time next weekend so maybe I'll see some of you out there!

I've gotta say this particular thread has turned into my favorite one to check. Haha UVA is starting to look like a very lively & entertaining crowd - can't wait till the fall!
