are all of you all really close with each other via the forum board and have frequented the TLS forums for a long time therefore comfortable enough to make comments about "how can you brag without your duke law email?", sort of as a joke (which I understand)
or
are you guys serious about the lay prestige and bragging? it all sounds really pretentious. i've always loved the idea of going to Duke. i'm from virginia and don't even want to apply to UVa because growing up here, there are so many pretentious douchers that go there. i just personally don't enjoy being around people who in social settings choose to flaunt their feathers instead of being modest.
really hoping you guys are just goofing around which i would definitely be doing with people i was cool with but otherwise it's kind of a bummer to see =/

Can't really speak for how these guys took my comment or whether we are close enough for that or not. I wasn't seriously going to brag on myself by flashing my email address (I don't even think anyone in the RTP area would care?). You don't have to worry about me being a guy who can't shut up about what I do or have done, as it isn't a very long list. I don't talk down to people, don't think I'm better than anyone, and I wouldn't describe myself as a doucher (yet who would). I am a complete joker in any social setting (no bullshit once we get down to business though), so take everything I say in jest. Don't be bummed out; it's the internet and if we can't act like anonymous douchers on here then I'm wasting $50 a month.

You might get that a little with the undergrad but all of the law school students I have met have been really easy to be around. People on here are just messing around, I wouldn't worry about it.wehman wrote:are all of you all really close with each other via the forum board and have frequented the TLS forums for a long time therefore comfortable enough to make comments about "how can you brag without your duke law email?", sort of as a joke (which I understand)

Back to serious business though. I researched yet still do not fully understand what a foie gra popsicle is. Frozen goose/duck liver fat? Is that close? That would cause me to avoid the food walk, as I don't want to be the only one in the group who answers 'red' when asked what kind of popsicle I want.

I felt comfortable that everyone was kidding about the e-mail. I hope everyone is happy to be going to Duke Law and that we have enough of a sense of community that Duke Law gear does not simply indicate a desire to brag.

I want Duke Law gear because I feel guilty wearing a plain Duke shirt. Despite my screen name, I'd take a Gator title over a Cowboys home field triumph. This could be the year for both though.

yada yada yada Longhorns blah blah blah.......I think thick is driving up to NC, so no telling if alabama will be bragged on or not. Anyone else have a team worth bragging about? (Trick question, the only team worth bragging about is Texas)DallasCowboy wrote:I want Duke Law gear because I feel guilty wearing a plain Duke shirt. The foie gras was totally a joke, I don't think you have to worry about having to suffer through one of those popsicles. I'm sure the food is going to be really good.
@ DallasCowby: With a name like that you should be the last one complaining about the heat. 3 miles in 3 hours with frequent stops for food should not be too difficult to manage.

Foie gras is pretty damn delightful. If you haven't had it, put it on your to-do list--there's no better complement to a nice tenderloin. It probably won't be on the tour because it's somewhat expensive, but there's got to be some place in the Triangle that serves it.pelmen74 wrote:The foie gras was totally a joke, I don't think you have to worry about having to suffer through one of those popsicles. I bet you'll go to locopops for the gourmet popsicle, and it's awesome. While they have some odd ball flavors, they have the standard strawberry lime. Durham has fabulous food, a food tour would not disappoint !

Ihope locopops makes Mexican-style popsicles (like Las Paletas in Nashville). I love those things! They are addictive in the summer heat

Re: Duke Class of 2013
On another note I was at the law school earlier (no internet service at my place yet), sitting outside minding my business and this dude rushes out, smoking a cigarette. Right away he starts walking in circles frantically next to the tables just outside the door, steps from me. It was dark out and I sort of panicked - this guy seemed totally unstable and my sixth sense was screaming 'get the fock away from this dude NOW!'. He was circling fast like 1) Sht had totally hit the fan -and- 2) He was trying to get blood flowing to stay awake and keep working
He finally went back in the building after 5 mins or so. When I was walking back to my car in the Chem lot I saw him on a computer in the library (only one in there). Then it struck me - this guy must be one of the summer starters. If this is what happens after just a few weeks - OH.SHIT.
