.
Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it's the 1st lawyers club payment thats due on the 31st. Maybe both are due on the 31st?
Then it may be both. I just received a postcard, for lack of a better word, in the mail from the university informing that tuition for the fall 2010 term is due on August 31. Maybe that's just for undergrads? I don't know. I will call the law school tomorrow and post back.
Just called the financial aid office. Loans will be disbursed before classes start. Even if the loans are disbursed after August 31, there will be no late charge.
Thanks for calling!
I'm assuming when they talk about the first day of classes they mean that's when we'll get the leftover loan money (i.e. the cost of living loan money) via direct deposit?

Yes, they direct deposit the leftover amount shortly after paying your tuition.

About the required books listed in the course footnotes - these are all casebooks right? No hornbooks/supplements in the list?
Also, is anyone waiting for orientation to pickup the books from Ulrich's? I saw that they have something scheduled in there for seniors to help us with that process.
Finally, is it recommended to buy supplements (if at all) already, or should we rather wait for after classes begin?

Ulrich's is likely to be a disaster during orientation. I'd pick up your books in advance. Also, wait to buy supplements. Each professor runs different ground and may even have a preferred supplement. Most profs address this on the first day.

I got mine for about half as much on half.com/Amazon versus the used price at Ulrichs/Borders.

In Wolverine Access when you view your schedule there is an option to see a list, calendar view or textbook list. Click the list, which thankfully has isbn numbers.

So....do most students rent textbooks / buy used textbooks or buy new ones? I know there's a significant price difference, but I wonder if there is an advantage of buying them brand new.

Well some of the cheaper used books are heavily highlighted and annotated, and are usually in bad shape. Obviously, this can be a little distracting. But you can avoid books in bad condition and still save a lot of money. I bought mostly used books in very good or good condition and saved $180.

Just a heads up, lawbooksforless.com has the 2d UCC restatement for like $55 with shipping. Compared to $140+ used on Amazon. It's currently out-of-stock but they say they will ship in 3-5 business days.
Edit: Disregard, Ulrichs has it for $37 used. I wonder why the discrepancy...hmm.

I don't know, but there were a couple of other little supplements and books other than casebooks that were the same way. Probably all the cheaper copies were bought up by students at schools that give out book lists earlier.

Hey, does anyone know if Grad PLUS loans are supposed to show up under the "Loans" tab of Wolverine access? For me only the Stafford loans are listed under the Loans tab, but my PLUS loan is listed under the Awards tab. I ask because on the loans tab it does say " Information on this page concerns Federal Perkins, Health Professions, Nursing, Direct Subsidized, Direct Unsubsidized, Direct Graduate PLUS loans, and Medical School Loans.
I've never taken out loans before so I'm just trying to make sure everything is in order.

Did you complete the form thing from the financial aid office saying you wanted GradPlus? Does it list any missing documents under "financial aid document status"?

Yeah, and it doesn't mention any missing documents. Also got a letter from DirectLoans saying my GradPlus for Michigan was approved. I'm pretty sure I'm set, but I just wanna make sure.
This is what it looks like for me on Wolv Access.

Beats me then. I'm not taking Grad Plus so I'm really not sure.

Log into Wolverine, Student business, my class schedule (under Enrollment). Look at your legal practice class (#590, its the only one section class). Then compare to
http://cgi2.www.law.umich.edu/_ClassSch ... ?term=1810. Your section is in the footnotes when you match up the #590 prof/time.

Mine is the same way. I'm not too worried about it right now, since I know I signed my MPN and have proof that I did so. They show that they've received everything else.

Section O. Blowhard, have you looked into taking over the OP so you can just post the list there? That would be helpful going into the semester.
