What happened to the SMU class of 2010?

From just a cursory check of other years, it appears SMU hasn't fallen below the state-wide average since Feb 2001.

Rumor has it exactly 17% of them pre-gamed for the Bar Exam with Four Lokos. Otherwise we totally would have been at 100%. However the one person who pre-gamed with Eight Lokos apparently passed. Good for her.

I'm just concerned that having a class perform so poorly on the Bar will affect SMU's overall reputation. The employment market is bad enough without receiving a downgrade in whatever status we might have.

I realize one poor performance does not make a trend, but it certainly isn't going to help.

There are still thousands of alums working across the city and state. I don't think it will matter at all.

It's remarkable how little bar passage rate matters to you 1L year. The world could be (and very well may be) crumbling around me, but unless it somehow effects my memo or outlining, I couldn't care less.

Passing along some sad news, I just learned that Greg Coleman was killed in a plane crash on November 23rd. Mr. Coleman was one of the attorneys from the above event.

Anybody know anything other than hearsay about when we can reasonably expect to hear back about grades? And what can we do job hunt wise without grades? Do we just send letters to places telling them to expect to hear from us when we get grades?

End of January.

I just sent cover letters that said grades would be provided as soon as they were available. Some of the opportunities said explicitly that grades are requires, so I haven't done those yet.

I didn't get mine until a day or two after the scheduled disbursement date last semester. I assumed they go by last name and mine is at the end.

My humble prediction is that we won't know any grades until February. What is most irritating is that Crespi's test was the longest and the one for which I wrote the most characters, and he had them all graded before Christmas. Plus, his exam was given next-to-last.
