Re: Michigan Class of 2013
I bet the reason is due to scheduling, or professor preference. ABA rules require so many minutes per class per semester, as we'll all learn with make-up classes. Rooms are scarce at the law school right now, which is why many 2L and 3L finals are not in-class exams.blowhard wrote:Any idea why EFGH have 4 days of contracts?thisamericanlife wrote:They give each section a "small" class with only one other section, whereas the others 2 classes are with 4 sections.blowhard wrote:Who knows man. The people in White's class have 4 days while everyone else has 3. I think everyone has one two-section class. For EFGH it's Criminal law. For IJKL it's contracts.ankit wrote:I for me.....wonder why our contracts class is only with one other section and not three....

If we get someone in Section K we'll have at least one TLS person in each section. Should have made this into bingo...

So you think we won't meet 4 days every week?thisamericanlife wrote:

No, you will meet 4 days a week. The difference is 4 55 minute classes or 3 75 minute classes. It just depends on how you get your minutes in for the semester. If a professor cancels a class, then a make-up, according to ABA, must be scheduled, unless there are extra minutes built into the semester. Most schools I know do not build in much extra time.blowhard wrote:So you think we won't meet 4 days every week?thisamericanlife wrote:

I used to work with a law school registrar. Scheduling takes hours when, after the registrar releases a schedule, professors say I want to teach at this time instead or the academic deans says I want to change this professor in this class.

Re: Michigan Class of 2013
Four days of contracts at 55 minutes each will be great. Summer start has been doing five days of 90 minute contracts classes and it's rough. Lots of reading per class. Even though it's one more class, I think the ABCD fall schedule is going to be much easier to handle.blowhard wrote:Any idea why EFGH have 4 days of contracts?thisamericanlife wrote:They give each section a "small" class with only one other section, whereas the others 2 classes are with 4 sections.blowhard wrote:Who knows man. Summer start classes end Tuesday (except for exams, of course). So excited to never do torts ever again.

I have to say, this is not bad at all. One class each on Thursday and Friday, and no 8am classes!

See, I have the opposite problem. If I wake up too early, I just end up going back to sleep in the middle of the day. Probably why my most productive hours during UG were at night.blowhard wrote:Yeah, I'm not looking forward to 8 am classes but at least it'll force me out of bed. Also, this may have been asked already on this forum, but does anyone know when our loans are dispersed? I think our first tuition payment is due August 31

Same for me. Nothing ever got started before 11pm.byunbee wrote:See, I have the opposite problem. If I wake up too early, I just end up going back to sleep in the middle of the day. I'm gonna be in the lawyer's club so these 9am classes are really the equivalent of what 10am classes used to be. Pretty sweet.
