ahahah. Please don't go to Windsor. It's only a worthwhile trip for Michigan's finest 19 and 20 year olds who go to drink, gamble, and go to the strip club.
Stay stateside and take your parents to a Tiger game downtown. For the true Detroit experience, hit Slow's BBQ or any of the restaurants/bars in Greektown before or after the game.

Did anyone who sent in a lawyers club lease just get an email about openings in the lawyers club? I hope this is a mistake...

Did you all get the lawyers club email? I actually read the craigslist ad they link...pretty humerous for an admissions email.

Pretty sure this went to the whole Class. Did you apply and not get accepted?

Nah, I got confirmation on my lease a couple of months back. I guess I just got paranoid.
The email was pretty funny.

Hmm, I didn't get one yet and I signed a LC lease. Did it go to your UM email or your normal one?

Guess I'll give them a call tomorrow.
I haven't heard anything at all about the LC since they confirmed receiving my lease.

So finally made my first trip to AA a couple weeks ago and found a place to live- it all feels real now! I looked at like 15 apartments in one day and learned the joys of the housing racket in a college town- my undergrad town was small and not so insane. $650/month for a basement studio with no windows and ceilings so low my SO couldn't stand up straight? Srsly? Finally found a place I love that's reasonable, though, so party at my piece sometime soon.
Aaaanyhoosers, excited to have "gotten in" to MAP, but agreed that everyone probably got in. I guess the application was just to ensure a low level of commitment to actually considering those issues, which is cool. Anyone else going to be rocking the Campus Inn with me? My lease doesn't start until 27th.
Question: who did y'all put for references on your MPN for financial aid?

A parent and an uncle. As long as they don't live with you (or together), it's cool.

Ya, If you speed a little and there is no traffic its doable

the 4.5 was the first thing that popped into my head cause of the train, which obviously takes longer.

Officially it's orientation unless you have a compelling need to get it earlier. Someone posted on the facebook group that they thought they'd heard it might show up in WolverineAccess sometime this summer, but I don't know how credited that is.

We got them towards the end of MAP week last year -- a few days before orientation started. I remember a few people checking the internet on their phones in the middle of a session, and then everyone rushing to compare section assignments afterwards. I doubt they'll show up online before MAP week (though I know that won't stop any of you from checking every day...)

That's good to know, though I probably will check every so often just in case. Thanks.

Any other Fall starters (or Summer starters/2Ls/3Ls really) in AA early and want to get together for a drink or dinner or something sometime?

blowhard or anyone else, I'm in AA and I would like to start meeting people. Let me know if anyone gets together. I"m a fall starter.

I just finished signing the MPN for federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans on the federal student aid site. There is a place on there to apply/request PLUS loans. We don't need to go through the federal website for PLUS loans correct? I assumed that all we needed to fill out for GradPLUS was the request form through the Financial Aid office.
Anything I am missing here?

Shit! I didn't even know that form even existed. I just filled out the forms and did the credit check on the studentloan.gov website--I didn't know I had to do it through Michigan's website. I've never taken out loans before so this is all new to me. I just filled it out now; I hope it isn't too late now?

I'm sure you're fine. At ASW they said they had no real deadline but preferred people did it a few weeks before class starts.

You'll be ok. I did mine for another program late August last year and everything worked out. The process is fast because Michigan is a direct lender.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
