I know the bill says that, but they told us during ASD that the money isn't due until classes start, so no worries there....

....however, is anyone else STILL waiting on their entrance interview to show up in the my.fordham.edu document list? Eric keeps saying they're backed up, but we're getting pretty close here

Edit: just to be clear, it's the entrance interview at studentloans.gov

Sure.

Also, is anyone stocking up on supplies or waiting until orientation to see what the profs suggest (notebooks, binders, etc)?
Good question Lauren Gayle (is that you're real name? -no wait, don't answer that),

I'm not sure what more we would need outside of notebooks, pens, pencils (erasing is a valuable tool) and a big ass backpack...
True, true. It's been awhile since I've been a student ;-) Anyone bringing a laptop to class? I'm back and forth on that.

Also, I'm out of town the 13th through the 21st so if you do a happy hour after you get back from Paris (have fun, btw!) I'll probably miss it. Unless we do the 12th ;-) But no matter what I'll be seeing you all at orientation!

I'm planning to bring my laptop everyday and take almost all of my notes on it.

Also unrelated but where is everyone living next year... are most people in UWS or is anyone living in other parts of the city?

It varies by section, but you should be finding out soon. I had Contracts and Criminal Law first, along with LRW.

For happy hour, UWS is ok, but I work in midtown so if its all the same to everyone else :)

That said, who plays fantasy football, I have a league that needs a couple of people... ESPN standard league with 1 extra starting receiver and 0.5 ppr...

I'll go anywhere for happy hour -- I'm off the N/Q in Queens so basically anything is convenient (except Brooklyn).

Ah, I do play fantasy but I'm already in a league and scared to do more than one with all this law school work coming up :-P

Hey all. Not sure if this has been discussed, but does anyone know the cheapest gym option around Fordham? I've had a membership at NYSC for the past year and a half, but it's a little pricey (close to $80/month). Are there any places that offer student discounts?

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

I live in Hells Kitchen and know a lot of great places for happy hour around here...

I'm starting to freak out...please tell me I'm not the only one.

i plan on running in Central Park to stay in shape... the 6 mile loop is awesome in the winter time. If anyone wants to join we can form a running club.

Hell's Kitchen has never been my scene but Lansdowne has delicious wings.

You are NOT the only one. I had the "I'm terrified" convo with my boyfriend just last night.

I used to be a member at Crunch and they do offer a student discount. It USED to be awesome - like $55/mo with no long term commitment.. but I think they've scaled back on that.

I'm currently a member at Bally's for $20/mo with no long term commitment and it's a National membership. The one I go to is located in the Chelsea/Flatiron area, although I'm pretty sure there's one located in the 50's sort of/kind of near Columbus Circle (it's worth looking into). Not the most amazing facilities (ie. no TVs on the machines, limited amount of classes and one absolutely AWFUL yoga instructor), but for $20 it can't be beat.

For those living in Astoria, check out Planet Fitness. I hear it's dirt cheap and pretty nice.

If you're interested in yoga classes, OM Yoga in the Union Square area has a phenomenal discount for students. $5 classes at select times (7:30am throughout the week with a few additional classes thrown in the mix throughout the day and on weekends). There are lots of other places that offer discounts to students on packages for yoga, but OM's seems the most cost effective to the occasional yogi.

Also, I heard there's a small gym in McMahon hall that students have access to (regardless of if they live there). Anyone else hear that?

I think that's true, but I also think that said gym is small and not well equipped. Only a few more weeks until we know for sure, though!

Found an awesome dinner a few blocks up from Fordham. Best part, after 4 p.m. they have dollar domestics. Food is great and cheap too!
