Why ask people on a forum when you can just the management for this information? The folks at the Jeffersonian responded to my request for analogous information very quickly.

Hopefully the Jeffersonian lets me in then...YCrevolution wrote:They're not even competent when it's not snowing. The Albermarle County schools have been closed so far this week (and given the 6 inches that could fall today/tonight, and then more snow on the weekend, they might be closed for a long while).

From what I can tell UVA's not really that balmy. I took a look at weather.com's historical monthly averages, and it's almost the same as the NYC region. It's ~ 5 degrees warmer in the winter, and that's about it.hopefulundergrad wrote:I thought clerkship placement and temperate weather were the two things that differentiated UVA from Michigan.
I was lied to.

I guess I don't know enough about the weather to be able to confirm/disconfirm that.YCrevolution wrote:You could still be correct if next winter's weather is not independent of this winter's weather.oneforship wrote:dailygrind wrote:oneforship wrote:the good news for 0Ls, is the probability of this much snow falling 2 years in a row is probably pretty low.you weren't awake in your stats and probability class were you.
no, I was, and while I knew it was technically an incorrect statement, I figured that I would try it out on the boards and see if anyone picked up on it. I figured if I could get away with it anywhere, it would be here.

This weather sucks. I'm 350 miles from Mexico and it's snowed about 2' so far this year. We also have events called "freezing drizzle" and "freezing fog."
Nice win over UNC tonight. Things must be tense in a bit tense Chapel Hill right about now.

haha to be fair, I thought the same thing at first, as I'm in a similar situation. but I'll still take the $5K, better than nothing!Sauer Grapes wrote:True, but it seems insignificant compared to total cost of attending, especially compared to other state schools that give $10K+ off per year for in state.oneforship wrote:you get $5,000 a year.Sauer Grapes wrote:Got the email about the open house. Don't worry though, my complaints are nit picking and I have it in perspective. I just wanted to complain about something I guess.

As a life-long TN resident, I encountered freezing fog for the first time during this recent winter storm. Needless to say, when the weather guy said freezing fog I thought it was a joke.lilspainishflea wrote:This weather sucks. I'm 350 miles from Mexico and it's snowed about 2' so far this year. Ok, because you're complaining about $100 and find $15,000 over three years insignificant.

Anyway, I was more joking, but really, living 2 minutes from those getting a stipend does seem a bit odd. They have to draw the line somewhere.

You know, UVA law school tuition was about 10k at one point for instate. I wish I graduated about 10 years ago. UVA would have been a very good deal.

Re: Ivy Gardens
it seems like ivy gardens is much farther from the law school than a bunch of other complexes, why is ivy so popular for UVA law students on this board?
