So what are the gyms like on campus? Would it be worth becoming a member of 24 hour fitness (it's really close to my place) or should I stick to the UT gyms? Any gym in particular?

Do you live close to campus, too? UT rec has awesome facilities, though I've heard they can get pretty crowded. I don't think I'd want to pay extra for another membership, but then I'm cheap like that. :-)

Depends which 24 to which you are referring. The UT rec center is absolutely amazing and there are two main gyms -the Rec center and Gregory. Gregory definitely gets crowded (especially in January with the new years resolutions) but dies down later in the year. It is the place you go to be seen working out. The Rec center is more for serious weight lifting but a bit farther of a walk depending where you are (its down by the stadium.)

If you are thinking the 24 by campus then no -I personally hate it. If you are thinking about the one up north by 183 then yes. I currently have a membership there and absolutely love it. It is much easier to get there than campus if you live up north.

Yes, I'm moving into a place on Red River. It's a few blocks up from the law school. I don't really want to pay extra for a membership, but I would rather do that than have to wait at a crowded gym for an elliptical. Then again, it's possible I'd have to do that at 24 hour fitness, too.

The gyms on campus are excellent. I basically live at the Rec and highly recommend it for people looking to lift or do cardio. I've never seen a line for an elliptical/other cardio machines there, but I also tend to avoid peak hours (4-7ish in my experience).

When I was deciding on where to go to law school, I almost went with UT but didn't in the end. But I really love the school, and the city. So I have this "special" feeling towards UT. Anyway, I was bored at work yesterday and came in to take a peek (I used to come in a lot when I throught I was going to UT). When I saw your tar, I just wouldn't help it (I guess partly because I don't know that many people who know this show irl).

So, I am in need of some suggestions. How do you all go about watching your favorite football team when you're not living in their city? I've never had to deal with this. I found a bar that plays their games every Sunday ...should I just go with that?

you can do that or you can check to see if your cable provider (if you plan on getting or already have cable at home) has an NFL package that allows you to see all of the NFL games.

of course, going to the bar seems to be the better option since it would (probably) be much cheaper.

if watching at home, you grit your teeth and watch whatever's on FOX/CBS. usually cbs, because fox has crappy broadcast quality for some reason. you will get ridiculously frustrated at the programming. like for the last two years, when they try to play tennessee titans games all the time because VY is the quarterback, despite the fact that i'd much rather be watching the texans. last year, they played titans games instead of texans games all throughout the beginning of the season while the titans lost even single week and the texans were winning and playing close, competitive games. they then switched to texans games right in time for tennessee to start winning and houston losing, then i think they finally stuck with houston to close it out. i can't remember that part, i was either in finals mode or out of town after december.

short answer: yes yes yes, watch at a bar. also, if your team is AFC i hope you like getting dominated by houston. i see 11 wins in our future.
