For those of you who got your leases, how did you receive them?

I was stupid and procrastinated sending the form out. I got an email confirming I would be offered a lease, but I'm worried about getting suck in one of the "economy" rooms because the people at ASW told me those are brutal.

I've never rented a place in the US from a real estate agent- do you normally have to pay them a fee?

Not usually. You may have to pay a small application fee for a credit check. The property owner reimburses the real estate agent for placing the tenant.

It depends on the city. In New York City many places have broker's fees, which range from one month's rent to around 12% of a year's rent. It's rough.

Is there cable in the LC? Because I don't know what I'll do without 'Glee.'

It doesn't say that cable TV is included in the lease, though when you look at the housing description (http://www.law.umich.edu/prospectivestu ... using.aspx), it's listed. The TLS profile (http://www.top-law-schools.com/michigan-law-school.html) says cable TV is an extra $130/semester.

So I'm sure cable is available, but I don't know if it's included in the rent or not.

I believe that cable is charged separately to your student account. It isn't a mandatory fee, though - if you don't want it, it's easy to cancel.

I really need to do my app...I've been so busy lately. (My dog is really sick) and haven't had time. I will do it this week! Is there a deadline?

I just looked at the email and it says that the deadline for applying is June 30. So, looks like you have plenty of time to apply and that we won't be hearing back for a while.

Thanks, unfortunately right now it seems like I might have to put him down. (He's staying at the vet and suffering from a cardiac condition that may be impossible to resolve) what's worse is that I'm in Japan where they don't care about animals are are like just put it down. Take the health guarantee and get a new dog. (if it dies before a year it is replaced) Meanwhile, I'm a guy but the thought of putting my dog down makes me cry like a little girl. Seriously, and I have no shame about it. But I just saw it was June 30th, so I have time. Thanks though!

Wow, that really sucks. I'm so sorry. I just put my cat (that I had since I was a kid) down and it was really horrible. Don't let anyone make you feel silly for feeling sad about it - there would be something wrong with you if you weren't upset. Hang in there.

Just got my LC lease. B13 (which coincidentally is also my personal mantra).

I was all prepared to live in a suite, but I guess I'm in a single. I don't even remember what I picked when I had to rank them at this point.

Does anyone know how approximately how big the single rooms are? Are they the same size as the bedrooms in the suites?

rooms are all different sizes, call them and they will tell you your rooms exact dimensions and what type of view your room has.

I think I'm glad to have a single, but having a roommate would have been cool.

While on the subject of the Lawyers Club, is it weird that I am 34 and decided to live there? I hate having to deal with landlords, particularly the kind of resentful, devious, working-class types that you find in areas such as AA. I also can not cook, don't have a car, and despise public transportation. Hence the LC seems to be the ideal solution, save my advanced age. But, I assure you, I am a kid at heart.

I think we'd be able to figure each other out fairly easy anyhow... If you are doing something you want to keep from fellow classmates, probably shouldn't do it on a forum devoted to law students.
