It is only a sprint (800 m swim, 12 mi bike, 3.1 mi run) but it is my first so I'm excited. I wanted to do something this summer that would keep me focused and not just pissing away my time as I waited for law school to start. Although I have to admit I'm not sure I am more excited about the race or the Plucker's dinner I will have afterward!

Oh -I forgot to ask a question.

Does anyone know how our financial aide will work for non-tuition payments? I know for tuition you have an option to pay your bill with financial aid, check, credit, etc. But how do I pay rent?

I just met with financial aid last week to ask about this stuff. She said that your financial aid will be credited to tuition first. Anything left will be in one lump sum, and will either be mailed to you as a check or direct-deposited, depending on what you select online. I think she said this happens the first week of class, but I don't have an exact date.

wow. That's a long swim for a sprint!

You'll have a great time. I haven't done a tri in years, but they're a lot of fun.

Lets set a happy-hour for next Wednesday. Any objections?

I am actually running a triathlon on Sunday so a lot of my free time this last week is being dedicated to training. And the All-Star game is on Tuesday so I am definitely AWOL then. :)

YOU GUYS. I have something very important I need to talk to you about. *waits while you gather in a circle*

Okay. Seven weeks ago, I was rear ended, and my car was pretty messed up. It took a solid month of fixing. I was pretty messed up, too, but I'd been going to a chiropractor and doing some physical therapy, and I was on my way to being all better. The chiropractor was pretty confident I'd be back to my old self before August 25th. and then...I got rear ended AGAIN yesterday. And now I am pretty messed up again, and it's unlikely I will be okay before school starts.

Why am I sharing this with you? Two words: Rolling Backpack. I will need to use one, as even before I got rear ended the second time, I couldn't lift anything heavier than my purse (which is tiny) without experiencing pain. I am so, so sorry, guys. I really am. I promise I won't carry it a minute longer than absolutely necessary.

Please forgive me.

Awwww, adrib, I won't judge you, I'll accept your rolling backback. I hope you're doing ok!

Feel better soon!

ADRIB!!!!! We're glad you're alright (minus the pain!). Ugh, I hate being rear-ended (who likes it though right?) It's happened to me twice and I still to this day have neck pain.

Much like flooter, we will still be your friend despite your new fashion accessory lol. (as long as I can discreetly put some of my books in it also) :D

Hey, I know! Maybe we can get a permanent marker and decorate your rolling pack with flowers and peace signs and names and stuff...you know, just like in second grade when you have a cast on your arm.

+1. All the rolly backpackers should thank you as now I will refrain from loosening their wheels during class

Also, I am hereby adding my name to the list (read: inviting myself) to the happy hour next week!

Well, the secret of who is adrib will be revealed! :)

Stoked about happy hour next Wednesday. Is anyone opposed to Crown and Anchor?

Also had an idea to have a day get together right before orientation and do a Round Rock Express game. Anyone interested?

I'm pretty sure I'm in for next Wednesday. I arrive at 4:30pm then I need to check into my hotel and all that fun stuff, but I'm free for the evening. Yay for meeting future law students! heh

AAA Ball Club affiliated with the Houston Astros.

*Edit*
Even better news -the week of orientation they are playing the Oklahoma Red Hawks (AAA affiliate of the Rangers) so we can see a little Texas rivalry.

Any interesting prospects on either club?

The Rangers have one of the best farm systems in the majors. Their AAA Oklahoma team has prospects like Tanner Scheppers, Mitch Moreland, and another of other players that could be future quality big leaguers. Not to mention, there are some solid big leaguers getting work in there right now like Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Chris Davis, Brandon Bogg, Matt Harrison, and Brandon McCarthy. I'm not as familiar with Houston and their farm system.

Speaking of orientation, does anyone have an idea of what we will be doing? Also, is it just the 23rd and then a day off before classes officially start, or is it two days?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
