Involved in federal suit, worth mentioning?
I was involved in a federal suit in a trial for which a judge is seeking an internship; if you have a personal connection to his court is this worth mentioning?

First, I assume you mean that you are seeking a clerkship, right?Snooker wrote:I was involved in a federal suit in a trial for which a judge is seeking clerkship; if you have a personal connection to his court is this worth mentioning?
Second, I don't think anyone can answer this question unless we know the details, particularly what your involvement was and whether the case is still pending (in the judge's court or on appeal).
But generally, personal connections are good they help explain why you want to work for that judge.

Suit was decided several years ago and was in a huge full blown trial. Everyone I am connected to had a good relation to the judge at the trial.

Depends. Were you convicted?

yeah my typo. funny since I've said internship anywhere else and the judge is looking for interns, not clerks. Does it make a difference for the purpose of this question?TTT-LS wrote:You get clerkships after your 2L year, to begin after you graduate. Since you are a 1L, you aren't looking for a "clerkship" right now. You are looking for an externship or internship. There is a world of difference between those things and clerkships.
