Interesting - why choose a top school? Forum

Came across this page of CA job ads (no, not lame JDU like Craigslist stuff, real jobs). Thought it was interesting to see even for these mid-level positions they all mention "superior academics from a top tier school." Really helps in the debate posted on this site alot about, "cheaper lower ranked school or sticker at top tier" I think...

probably depends on the subjective definition of a "top tier" school to really be applicable as evidence supporting one side of the argument or another

Then again, these ARE California jobs. "Top Tier" might just be excluding all those non-ABA accredited schools in CA

Saying Top Tier only means even if you were a top student at, say, Loyola or Santa Clara and have a good career record, please don't apply. One of the ads specifies Top 30 school. People often ask on here why do a tier 1 rather than T2 with $$$ - these ads explain part of the case IMO - there's a lot of talk here about ops straight out of school, but I'd hate to be mid-career and hit a cieling/be limited regardless of school/career performance - something to consider...
