Does anyone have any experience working/volunteering here? Opinions? Does anyone know how competitive the summer internships are and how competitive the hiring process is? How hard it might be for someone from out-of-state to find summer employment/work here? If they are willing to hire someone from an OOS school that shows a sincere interest in working in Chicago, in particular at the State's attorney's office?
Anyway, I'm considering this office in particular and will probably apply but want to see if anyone has any inside or extra information on hiring or working there during the summer. Thanks.

Bump. I'm also wondering if anyone who has interviewed with this office can tell me what the first interview is like?

First interview is pretty boring. She explained the process of hiring and the divisions. Didn't really ask a ton about me, just a few things as she went down my resume. Definitely took notes on all of the things I said though.Anonymous User wrote:Bump. I'm also wondering if anyone who has interviewed with this office can tell me what the first interview is like?
Standard "Why Chicago", "Why Public Interest", "Why prosecution" questions, etc.

Summer clerkships are not competitive, but the application will require some follow-up on your part to motivate them to respond to you. Everyone who wants to clerk there can clerk there.
Hiring, however, is VERY competitive. There are about 20-25 spots, and several hundred applicants. An unspoken part of Cook County's hiring process is that it's ALL about the connections you make when clerking for the office.
