OCI Outlook: Class of 2014
I just wanted to hear some views on how OCI will be shaping up in the coming years. Obviously it's difficult to predict. I'm just hoping to gain an insight from those who are currently in the mix.
To help narrow it down for me specifically, ideally I would be going to a school in the MPV range.

Re: OCI Outlook: Class of 2014
Current students don't even know how things will be when they graduate in 2010-2012. I think the economy will come back significantly overall, but the law market is going to be saturated. If the number of LSAT takers this year is any indication, the amount of people looking into law school to avoid looking for a job is staggering.
I think you had better make sure you are going to school for the right reasons; not just to avoid the current job market with hopes of landing a 160k/year gig when you get out.

I appreciate that you think we're smart enough to know where the economy is gonna be in 5 years (or, more accurately, to know what biglaw firms will be predicting 3 years from now about what the economy will be like 2 years from then), but I don't think we are

Why are you asking us? Why don't you send an email to Jim Cramer or something?Modest Moose wrote:I just wanted to hear some views on how OCI will be shaping up in the coming years. Obviously it's difficult to predict. I'm just hoping to gain an insight from those who are currently in the mix.

Not that it really matters whether we're talking c/o 2013 or c/o 2014, but I think it's particularly laughable that OP is asking about OCI for current -1Ls while we're frantically trying to read the tea leaves on this year's OCI.

New rule: Those who have not yet filled out law school applications or taken the LSAT cannot start threads on the legal employment forum.

From today:
salaries will be down,
apps to school will be up,
Law School will continue to cost a lot,
and job prospects will still suck compared to the debt you will take on.

This will be about as useful as anything we have to say:I just wanted to hear some views on how OCI will be shaping up in the coming years. Obviously it's difficult to predict. I'm just hoping to gain an insight from those who are currently in the mix.
