SAs and/or Offers at Tech-focused Bay Area Firms
I'm a OL looking to high tail it back to Cali after law school. Stanford and Boalt are no goes for me because of my GPA, but with a strong LSAT score I do have a strong shot at most of the lower T-14 and possibly UCLA.
Is there anyone on this board with went to a non-T6 T-14 and got an SA gig or post-2L offer from....
1) Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
2) Fenwick & West
3) Gunderson Dettmer
4) ... other Bay Area firms I'm forgetting
If yes, would you mind sharing your approximate class rank?
Thanks in advance.

you should be able to search those firms associates. the first 2 definitely hire(d) at UC-Davis before this economy, so I assume if you are at a T14 and show interest you can get there... dunno if they do OCI though.

I know of at least one person who was around median at UVA (I'm guessing slightly above) and had multiple offers from good Bay Area firms. This person is not originally from the Bay Area but is from the West Coast, which might have given them a slight boost compared to someone who just wants to go to California on a whim.

Offers at Wilson Sonsini, Mofo, GDC. All were at Michigan for OCI.

Cool. Thanks. Dumb question - GDC = who? The acronym doesn't ring a bell.Anonymous User wrote:Offers at Wilson Sonsini, Mofo, GDC. All were at Michigan for OCI.

WSGR does OCI at the T-14 and then some.FrankReynolds wrote:you should be able to search those firms associates. the first 2 definitely hire(d) at UC-Davis before this economy, so I assume if you are at a T14 and show interest you can get there... dunno if they do OCI though.
Fenwick goes to the larger T-14s and T1 Cali schools.
Gunderson = T9 + UCLA (rumor was that they were going drop UCLA from OCI)

IMO: GDC is the top CA firm, except KVNrondemarino wrote:Cool. Thanks. Dumb question - GDC = who? The acronym doesn't ring a bell.Anonymous User wrote:Offers at Wilson Sonsini, Mofo, GDC. All were at Michigan for OCI.

Hmmm... Their emerging technologies practice appears to be fairly large. Definitely new to me. Just never heard much about them in this arena before.Anonymous User wrote:Gibson Dunn and Crutcher.rondemarino wrote:Cool. Thanks. Dumb question - GDC = who? To be fair, considering the prominence of GDC, that probably reflects more on you than on the firm.rondemarino wrote:Hmmm... Their emerging technologies practice appears to be fairly large. Definitely new to me. Just never heard much about them in this arena before.

I guess. They have no presence in the market I work in (San Diego). All the startups here seem to use Gunderson, WSGR, MoFo or Cooley.thompson wrote:To be fair, considering the prominence of GDC, that probably reflects more on you than on the firm.rondemarino wrote:Hmmm...
