Medical Leave BEFORE employment?
I have a question regarding medical leave before beginning employment. I am in need of extensive knee surgery that would require me to take up to six months to recover fully, and it will probably be done overseas in order to curb my costs. Seeing as this would conflict with my semesters, I could not do it during law school. I was wondering if, upon graduation and accepting an offer from a firm, it would be feasible to request some time off to have this surgery done before commencing my career. Is there a sort of deferral I could request? I wouldn't mind if I wasn't paid during this time.

Well apparently no one here knows the answer. Any suggestions as to a place I could find this out? I figured it would be kind of presumptuous to ask HR at a specific firm, to say the least. I'd appreciate any suggestions
