Struck out at callbacks, whats next/left
So, its been nearly a month since my callback and I still have not heard anything. So, I am taking it as a rejection. If so, I have had 3 callbacks and got rejections from all of them. Apparently its just me... What should I do next? Government jobs? Public interest? Small law firms?

Do you have any experience in public interest or demonstrated commitment to any certain area of it? That might be a way to go. Or do you know anybody in local government offices? It will likely be pretty tough to walk into a public interest office and get a job without any connection or demonstrated commitment to service.

I'm in the same boat. I just got a rejection from my top firm and the remaining firms I'm waiting to hear from are all reaches.
I was thinking about doing a judical externship again this summer. How is that as an alternative?

Public interest. They pay less, but it's much less selective. Try for the ACLU.

Good call on the anonymity, I wouldn't want to be associated with a post like that either.

AFAIK, the ACLU is actually very selective. Not as much as DOJ or anything, but definitely up there, even in smaller cities.Anonymous User wrote:Public interest. They pay less, but it's much less selective. Try for the ACLU.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it too late to mass mail the smaller firms?

I'm wondering the same thing. About to go 0-6. FML.

I'm about to go 0/7 and I, too, am thinking about doing a judicial externship again. The judge I worked for last summer would definitely try to help me find something. Would this be looked upon poorly? Should I try for shitlaw instead?IStillPlayVideoGames wrote:I'm in the same boat. It's amazing that someone who hasn't practiced a day in the legal profession would throw around terms like shitlaw. Get a grip my friend. You struck out at biglaw OCI. You lost the right to talk down to small firms; in fact, I highly recommend you start working on getting a job at one, or else you'll be another regular at jdunderground.
