Info about Seward & Kissel
I have an OCI interview with them coming up and am looking for any and all information about them. If you know anything let me know. I know this is broad, but I'm just looking for info that may not be obvious after the basic interview research I've done. Thanks.

I like seward, though they dropped off the "best of the rest" vault list this year. It gets high quality work from the financial sector (obviously not a great thing at this point in time, but they don't seem like they're going to be collapsing any time soon), pays market, and promotes from within (few laterals). The bonuses are low, but hours are a little less than what you'd put in at a high ranked vault firm.
I interviewed with them during my OCI and very much liked the partner I spoke with. If I get a callback, I'll probably take it.

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
They are one of the best when it comes to representing hedge funds. They also have one of the top maritime finance groups in the country, although it is much smaller than the hedge fund group.
As others have hinted at it is a slightly less intense environment and because of that the bonuses are lower. I've met many attorneys from Seward and have found all to be very friendly people.
The environment is also very casual wen it comes to dress and interactions with partners and senior associates. Everyone at the firm goes by there first name only, with the exception of Mr. Seward (who is 99 and still comes into the firm regularly). It is also very easy to speak to Partners (as long as they are around - obviously they can be quite busy) and some partners will routinely come into your office just to talk about sports, your weekend, etc.
All that said, they still work very hard. However there are many less midnight type nights at Seward than a lot of the Megafirms.
They definitely emphasize hiring people that want to be at an environment like Seward, not people who are using Seward as a back up if they couldn't get offers at a Megafirm.
Do you know which attorney your interview is with?

Re: Info about Seward & Kissel
Any info about this firm? They seem pretty low key on the web.
If you already did the callback, how did it go/ what was it like?
I am under the impression that this firm does NOT callback a lot of kids since they are so small, so getting a callback probably means a decent shot at an offer (above 60%?? {although I am completely guessing})

their offer rates at my school were much lower than 60%, even pre ITE.

2010 SA class was 8, and 2011 should be about the same.Anonymous User wrote:any idea on how big their SA classes are?

Offer??
Um the recruiting lady told me that they only give out offers after interviewing everyone.
Also that's what happened last year too..
Weird
