How competitive is the call back round?
I'm just wondering how competitive the call back round of interviews is going to be?
Are the firms bringing back X number of students and then extending offers to 50% of them?
Or will they look to keep most of the students they call back only to weed out those who make a clear mistake?
Or something else?
Thanks!

Last year I believe it was around a 50%-75% chance of getting an offer if you got a callback. Who knows in this economy.

I don't see how it would make sense for the callback -> offer rate to change. Firms are trying to save money, so why fly in a bunch of folks they don't intend to hire? The culling is going to happen at the interview -> callback stage, where it's cheapest.Anonymous User wrote:Last year I believe it was around a 50%-75% chance of getting an offer if you got a callback. Re: How competitive is the call back round?
It probably around 50% at most firms, at least pre ITE, but this is very firm specific so it is hard to give accurate predictions generally.

Re: How competitive is the call back round?
At my (V30) firm last summer, a little bit under 25% of those who received callbacks received summer offers.

Maybe this is school specific. LY at NYU, the callback/offer ratio was 85-40%, depending on GPA. Median offer ratio was around 64%.

what do you mean by "depending on GPA?" Does NYU actually keep a chart that shows GPA range and % offers from callbacks?edcrane wrote:Maybe this is school specific. LY at NYU, the callback/offer ratio was 85-40%, depending on GPA. Median offer ratio was around 64%.

oh nice. do you know what's the offer rate for those with below 3.0? i was hoping GPA wouldn't be as relevant once I get to the callback stage, but I guess it still trumps.NYU2011 wrote:Yes, they do.Anonymous User wrote:what do you mean by "depending on GPA?" I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I believe it went something like this:Anonymous User wrote:oh nice. do you know what's the offer rate for those with below 3.0? i was hoping GPA wouldn't be as relevant once I get to the callback stage, but I guess it still trumps.NYU2011 wrote:Yes, they do.Anonymous User wrote:what do you mean by "depending on GPA?" greater than 3.6 - 85% offer rate
between 3.3 and 3.6 - 64% offer rate
between 3.1 and 3.3 - 64% offer rate
less than 3.0 - 40% offer rate
This is actually pretty good for the under 3.0 group. At a school like NYU, this corresponds to something like the bottom 10%.
