Re: OCI callbacks thread
T14
Top 10% LR URM
7 call backs (oci ended already), two V5.
Mostly targeted NY, LA firms in the top half of the vault rankings. I think number one for me is CGSH, I'd take them over the V5's. I just get a good feeling that they are legit about their diversity initiatives and really are about inclusion. We'll see though.

CCN
b/w 10% and 33%, secondary journal
26 Interviews
5 callbacks
2 dings
the rest... unknown
Interviewed DC and NY, doing much better in NY so far, hoping that is just a DC delay.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
My callbacks came between 3 and 4 business days after I interviewed. No reason to panic yet.underdawg wrote:can people post how much time has passed?

Re: OCI callbacks thread
i should try not to listen to the "so and so got a callback at x" talk so much. none of them have been the actual interviewers i've had, so i guess the separate interviewers for a firm might be doing things a little differently...

i'd prob start worrying if i didn't hear anything after 2 days. i'm pretty irrational though. it is very possible that firms are just going to take their take in offering callbacks.

Re: OCI callbacks thread

Re: OCI callbacks thread
T20, bottom half, secondary journal
10 interviews
2 rejections
1 callback
I feel ridiculously lucky to have that one. I have no technical background or any other particularly desirable resume trait. Generally feeling pretty fucked.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Just very worried because I've only received a callback from a super-selective V5, which was/is wayyy out of my reach (GPA-wise), and I have no special "softs." Of course, it's great to have a callback, but I wish my more target/safety firms would call me back, just so I don't pin my OCI hopes on a firm where my callback competition will probably be extremely talented.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
If you got the callback, your grades are obviously not a limiting factor. Unless this is WLRK, there's no need to be pessimistic about your chances.Anonymous User wrote:Just very worried because I've only received a callback from a super-selective V5, which was/is wayyy out of my reach (GPA-wise), and I have no special "softs." Haha thanks man. I hope you're right. I'll just stop being a moron and actually be happy with what I have. I really needed some perspective:)edcrane wrote:If you got the callback, your grades are obviously not a limiting factor. Re: OCI callbacks thread
It is, dawg. I did OCI last year (I'm a rising 3L now), and I got callbacks anywhere from the day of the interview to about 10 days later. Calls may come in even later this year, because I imagine firms might want to visit several schools before making any decisions.tell me it's silly to worry after day 2 of OCI
URITE. Last year, the firm I ended up with this summer called me after about 10 days; several others had been called back before they called me. It turned out to be exactly the issue that you describe: my interviewer was out of town for a few days, and was only able to call upon return.i should try not to listen to the "so and so got a callback at x" talk so much. none of them have been the actual interviewers i've had, so i guess the separate interviewers for a firm might be doing things a little differently...

Re: OCI callbacks thread
I actually think calls may come quickly this year, because the OCIs at top schools are so closely packed together. There will be waves, though, as firms don't want to over-recruit and will be conservative in the beginning.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Didn't Harvard move up their OCI this year? That should speed up the process.
The conventional wisdom is the NYC firms have the quickest turnaround and the CA firms the slowest. I haven't heard anything yet from the firms I interviewed with (all non-NYC/CA).

I thought most T14 didn't rank students, so how do T14 students know they're in the "top 10%" or whatever?

Top third, but barely. Secondary journal.
21 interviews, 19 DC and 2 NYC
6 callbacks, 4 DC, 2 NYC
4 dings, all DC

This is a great thread.
Can any of the other T20s narrow down the region that their school is in?

I was at Davis Polk this summer and can confirm that they like transfers. A lot of the Harvard, CLS, and NYU people in our summer class were transfers.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Could people please please just say what school they go to since this is an anonymous forum. It would help greatly in determining if the small gradations or differences in various schools actually matter, or if a lot of people are just being ridiculous with the fine gradations between the schools. (I.E is going to Stanford really going to guarantee you a job while going to Chicago means you "are not safe"). It would also help show whether or not hypotheses like small class sizes helps hiring etc( ie Duke is going to do better than GULC because GULC is massive). Is there any harm in revealing what school you go to if the post is anonymous? Am I missing something?

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Yes. Since callbacks don't happen at the same time and are fewer this year, it's quite easy to out yourself.kurama20 wrote:Could people please please just say what school they go to since this is an anonymous forum.
