Think 530 is a good price?kalvano wrote:PennBull wrote:(Crossposted from the Men's Fashion thread)
Found a Hickey Freeman half-canvassed navy for 530. This is a good deal right? I was hoping to spend 350-500 but this seems nice, fits me near perfect off the rack and might be a good bargain?
Or can I find better?
I love my Hickey Freeman suit. It looks great and fits perfect.

Is it a Hickey Freeman or a Hickey? Hickey is a cheaper sub-brand, and it's not as nice. If it's a Hickey Freeman, yeah. They retail around $1600 I think. I got mine at Last Call at Neiman Marcus, and it was $599 on the tag minus 20% or 30%.

Hm I dunno, it's something like $1299 marked down to $799 at a Barney's Outlet, minus another 30% + another 10%. So $504 plus tax. Would a Hickey be like that?kalvano wrote:PennBull wrote:Think 530 is a good price?kalvano wrote:PennBull wrote:(Crossposted from the Men's Fashion thread)

Look at the logo on it. If it has the Hickey Freeman logo (griffins and a shield with H-F on it), then it's a Hickey Freeman. If it has a black label that just says "Hickey", then it's the Hickey line and probably not worth that much.

Just found out it's an authentic Hickey Freeman. Italian material, made in Upstate New York.kalvano wrote:PennBull wrote:Hm I dunno, it's something like $1299 marked down to $799 at a Barney's Outlet, minus another 30% + another 10%. So $504 plus tax. Would a Hickey be like that?

Joseph A Bank has 70% off everything [sans shoes] until midnight. I've never bought anything there because their suit fits are a travesty for thin guys, but I could possibly add a few shirts at $26 if the tailored fit isn't gargantuan. Anyone know how they compare to Brooks extra slim?

They are more roomy than the slim, let alone the extra slim.mrloblaw wrote:Joseph A Bank has 70% off everything [sans shoes] until midnight. Yeah I was pretty disappointed when I got it. But it's cheap enough that you can justify taking it to the tailor. Material is not bad for a $27 shirt.mrloblaw wrote:Well I guess that's out. Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
I've lurked around looking for an answer to this, but haven't found anything:
I have an interview at a west coast firm for a patent agent position, one of those all-day affairs. I'm wondering what would be an okay bag or "murse" (painful to type honestly) to carry around. When I think about it, I'm not even sure what stuff I would need to carry around, actually... all I can think of is a couple paper copies of my resume. Thoughts?

At callbacks, the receptionists will often ask if you have a bag or coat you need to store, so if there are things you need to have with you that day for some reason, take whatever you want. At times I had to show up for callbacks with a rolling suitcase just based on my schedule, and it was never an issue. For the actual interview, just take a leather folio thing.humbugger wrote:I've lurked around looking for an answer to this, but haven't found anything:

Since most shirts are made with pleats nowadays, tailors can take them in (no joke) as much as 4 or 5 inches.PennBull wrote: How much can a tailor slim down a shirt?

Thanks. Definitely too light for interviews. I think a good rule of thumb with this kinda stuff is that if you have to ask, you should probably go darker.Bedsole wrote:I would assume so.jarak01 wrote:This is too light for OCI, right?
