Thoughts? Anyone ever try this? Seems like a good option.

Is it appropriate to wear solid grey 100% dress pants + blue/white striped button collar + navy blue blazer to a "business casual" event, or do the pants have to be CHARCOAL like the suit must be if you go a shade of grey at OCI?

Solid grey wool pants are fine.

Does Men's Wearhouse carry any decent suits. I've never gotten a suit there because I assumed they were all crap, but I just got $450 to spend there. Any chance I can take that $450, throw in an extra few hundred and get a suit suitable for interviews?

I think the $450 can only go towards the purchase of a suit.

If the gift card is only good for suits, then I personally would just e-bay it. Or you could see if they could order you a good suit...I know they occasionally carry a few Hickey Freeman suits.
If you can get other things, they sometimes sell Allen Edmonds, Johnston & Murphy, and Florsheims.

If you go in there and know exactly what you're getting into, then maybe it can work out. Just don't let them screw you around. You need to know exactly what color, size, style, etc you want and be very direct with them about it.skinsfan2386 wrote:I think the $450 can only go towards the purchase of a suit.

Sounds like you're willing to pay $750. Just go to Brooks Brothers. They're doing their sale right now and suits are like $700.skinsfan2386 wrote:Does Men's Wearhouse carry any decent suits. I don't think a $450 gift card + a few hundred extra means he's willing to spend $750. Skinsfan, Men's Wearhouse isn't the best, but if you get it tailored (not there), I'm sure it would be fine for OCI.ran12 wrote:Sounds like you're willing to pay $750. Just go to Brooks Brothers. I'd avoid Men's Wearhouse like the plague. If you're looking for discounted suits try checking out Saks Off Fifth, Nordstrom Rack, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, etc. You can occasionally find some pretty good deals at thoseplaces. Just do your research beforehand.

The Last Call by me has racks of name brands. When they were running 30% off, I got a Hickey Freeman, tailored, for $415.

In Pufer's guide he said that your belt should go just past your first loop. I have a belt that matches my black AEs perfectly in grain/shade but it is a little larger in the sense that the loop I buckle is exactly in the middle of the holes (rather than just passing through the first one). Should I invest in a belt one size smaller or is this OK for OCI? ty for answering my fashion minutiae

Is a yellow legal pad OK to use during OCI? Have a black leather padfolio. Should I go with a white or yellow pad bros? Have both. What is more formal?

No one is going to notice your belt. If your interviewer is staring there, you have other issues (or opportunities, depending on how attractive you find the interviewer).drbarry987 wrote:In Pufer's guide he said that your belt should go just past your first loop. Incoming 1L that's looking to expand my professional attire.
I just purchased a BB 1818 Fitz navy on megasale-40% off.
I have literally nothing else but a couple of alfani dress shirts. Suggestions?
I heard people talking about blazers for business casual? Necessity?
Thanks!
