Giving Notice - Practical Advice
I expect I'll be giving notice at my large law firm next week. Moving to another firm but taking some time off in between. Does anyone have practical advice on things to do when I during my interim period? Not asking about how to handle the big conversations or how much to work during my notice period - more practical stuff. Think health insurance, reimbursements, IT, things like that.

Re: Giving Notice - Practical Advice
OP reporting back (sad that nobody replied). A few things I learned / pieces of advice I got that I appreciated.
- Try not to have your last day be at the end of the month, many benefits seem to run through the end of your final month rather than for 30 days.
- If you're returning stuff (e.g. firm laptop, phone), get a receipt by email (that you forward to your personal account) before you go so you don't worry about it later.
- Make sure your firm email / phone numbers aren't used on any personal accounts (e.g. retirement plan / insurance), because that can make logging in impossible.
- COBRA can be retrospectively elected, so you can not pay for it unless you need medical care.
- Submit your receipts a week before your last day and follow up incessantly. Good luck getting paid out once you're gone.
- The firm will pack and move your stuff (at least if you, like me, are doing a NYC-to-NYC move). Let them. Only box stuff you'd be devastated to lose (diplomas).
- Make sure to get your CLE compliance records.
