Hello everyone!
I am a current law student at a T-14 and I have a question: is it possible to hold two jobs at once as an attorney?
I ask because I love my current job in sales. Currently, I work in the citizenship by investment/golden visa space. I'm interested in working Trusts and Estates law. My ultimate end goal is to open my own practice, but always keep my job in sales for golden visas. This is because I truly love what I do but there is an income cap despite it being sales, hence why I am going to law school. However, I can never truly see myself quitting the golden visa space and leaving my current employer: they are dream employers, I love my coworkers, and I love this field. I'd happily go down to part time at my current employer or take on an advisory role (currently I am at the Director level but also do sales).
I could ask my company to put me on sabbatical for a year while I work for a law firm, but I'm not sure I'll be comfortable hanging my own shingle in T&E after just a year of work at a firm because there is such a long tail in the industry. I'd even be comfortable working at a law firm part time if that's what they would require of me. My current company has zero problems with me gaining outside employment--it's the future law firm I worry about.
Any thoughts?

Very bad idea. You'll be fired from your legal job if they know you are moonlighting, and rightly so. You could be creating conflicts of interest that the firm could not check. You can knock yourself out if you go solo.
