Clawback if leaving to clerk
Current circuit clerk. Just accepted a district court clerkship starting in fall 2026. Firm I am going to after this clerkship has a one year clawback period for bonus. Of course it varies by firm. But generally, if I leave to clerk again 10-11-11.5 months after starting-- how likely are they to clawback the bonus? Assuming I leave on good terms, I intend to go back after the district court clerkship, etc.etc.

Re: Clawback if leaving to clerk
Until you tell the firm that you're going elsewhere, the chances are zero. If you choose to go elsewhere after the DC clerkship, then it depends on the firm. Quinn did not in the past. I've heard of other big firms clawing bonuses back in similar situations.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 10:30 pmCurrent circuit clerk. Not sure if you're considering this, but the clawback is prorated.

I thought about it. The language from my firm gives no hint that it would be prorated.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 12:10 amNot sure if you're considering this, but the clawback is prorated.
