My biglaw firm has asked me, a promising senior associate, to move from my current medium-sized city to help grow our practice group in a city with a much higher cost of living.
Does anyone have any anecdotes or examples of what other firms have offered in terms of perks, benefits, etc. to help with the increased cost of living? I'm not expecting the firm to purchase housing, but it has been indicated that the firm is open to reasonable requests and has asked me for some wish list items. I'm curious to hear if folks were grossed up to offset state income tax, provided a cost of living adjustment, helped with initiation fees or membership dues at country clubs, etc. I think covering moving expenses is a given.
