First-year biglaw associate. Leaving to clerk in a HCOL area in 2025. Not currently on any repayment plan. It'd be tough to make my current monthly student loan payment and rent on a clerk salary. I logged into the federal student loan website and under IDR Plan Request, got this message:
"Reason for Ineligibility
You do not have any eligible loans. Based on the data we received from the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), you cannot complete the IDR Plan Request using StudentAid.gov."
I assume this is related to the "recent injunction" a federal court issued against the SAVE plan and other IDR plans.
What are my options? Do I have any other than putting a ton of my biglaw salary into a savings account this year so I can make my payments as a clerk?
