MTO LA vs. Kellogg vs. W&C
For 2L summer. Interested in litigation, with a particular interest in appellate litigation (and have been told by each of the firms that I would have the chance to work with their appellate group), though also interested in getting broader exposure to litigation more generally.
Any thoughts on how to go about choosing between these firms?

1. Do I want to live in California or DC?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 11:32 pmFor 2L summer. 2. If DC, do I want to be paid above market or below market?

Kellogg will split with either of those firms. Do Kellogg for sure. Then decide whether you'd rather be in LA for half the summer or DC the whole summer.

Agreed with the above folks-- this decision turns a lot on LA v. DC for me. Very different lifestyles/vibe between living in those two cities. Also, MTO and W&C are more alike in terms of the work they focus on than either of them are to Kellogg. So if you think there is a real chance you want to be in LA post-law school and don't already have a good sense of what life there would be like, do a Kellogg/MTO LA split. If you are pretty sure you want to be in DC after school, then do a Kellogg/W&C split and then make your ultimate decision on the type of work you think you'd prefer or which folks you liked better. If you do the Kellogg/MTO LA split and it turns out you that prefer LA as a location but the type of work Kellogg focuses on, then I guess you'll have a more difficult decision to make. YMMV on what matters more to you, but I don't think you can put a price on being happy with where you live. Great problem to have and good luck to you.

It's better than Reddit because full anonymous is better than pseudo-anonymous. The gunners hang out here.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 9:32 amThis dying board remains the Internet hangout of choice for people scoring elite litigation offers
Also, congrats to OP. I agree with all the above advice that MTO vs WC is just a location question.

To satisfy all the lurking gunners: which of these three SA offers is the most prestigious? how would we compare them on selectivity/prestige?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 3:33 pmIt's better than Reddit because full anonymous is better than pseudo-anonymous. I think prestige distinctions are kind of meaningless at this level of prestige, all three are filled with COA clerks, etc. There are way better factors to make this decision on.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 3:34 amTo satisfy all the lurking gunners: which of these three SA offers is the most prestigious? how would we compare them on selectivity/prestige?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 3:33 pmIt's better than Reddit because full anonymous is better than pseudo-anonymous. Having said that, my sense is that Kellogg might very slightly have the edge out of the three.
