Skadden (DC) v. Gibson (DC)
Interested in cybersecurity/data privacy, national security, public policy related thereto. Both have these practices in DC. Coming down to quality of life. Unsure about free market system (e.g., partners playing favorites). Does anyone have good info?

While a great choice under any circumstances, OP is looking at DC firms (and rightly so, considering their interests)

Just generally they have a stronger DC presence and practice than Skadden. Obviously, both are great options.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 3:34 pmdoes anyone have any insight as to why gibson is superior here?

GDC is known for its particularly strong regulatory practice, Skadden while a good firm seems a bit random for your interests

I work at GDC, and while I can’t speak to those specific practice groups, I can say that I enjoy the free market system and have never experienced issues with partners playing favorites. Probably happens, but I’ve never heard of it causing issues. And to the contrary, in my experience, the free market system incentivizes partners to behave or risk not having associates to work on their matters.
