FAANG salaries?
Anyone know what kind of salary a biglaw mid-level (5th year) moving in-house to FAANG in NYC might expect these days, especially Google? Thanks.

Re: FAANG salaries?
I defer to anyone who has actually made the jump but my research suggests mid 300s or so in total compensation at Google (250k + 20% bonus + equity).

Re: FAANG salaries?
Friend went in house to google a few years ago and was offered mid 300s all in.
Now Google front loads equity vesting, so you’re looking at 400k+ for associate counsel probably

Current FAANG Attorney:
Depends on years of experience, locale, and the role (whether you are IC or manager etc):
0-6: Around 250-300
6-12: Around 300-350
12-16: Around 350-450
Most are partly or heavily equity, so there are fluctuations (people who joined last year during the highs are hurting right now).
Currently due to the economy we are just trying to close our open reqs, with the goal of no new hiring or backfills next year until the economy recovers. So if you can get in now, go!

At those salary levels what is the draw of FAANG over an IB/fund/asset manager or whatever? Seems like FAANG gets a lot of love here, but not sure if a legal position is going to get you the big paydays that can happen on the programming side.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 10:16 amCurrent FAANG Attorney:

For me personally it was more interesting work, and the chance for a large payday with equity appreciation. Money wasn't the sole factor. The hours/wlb is really good at certain places. I think I work around 30 hrs per week.....

I recently made the jump as an Associate Corporate Counsel at G, and its low 400k in a HCOL city. It might be higher in NYC.

Also at a FAANG (Meta). Went in-house as a 7th or 8th year associate. Started off as an IC5 Lead Counsel.
Total comp (inclusive of 401k matching etc.) my first year was around $275k.
2nd year around $300k (big drop in equity even after factoring in refresher since our stock is getting crushed).
Next year hoping to hit $350k, even assuming stock stays lower.
I’d love to be making $400k+, but I’m not looking to move. Job is pretty cushy. I probably work 20-30 hrs a week, get great reviews, work with supportive teammates.

What's driving the increase in comp over the years? Is it equity refreshers? If you are comfortable, do you mind shedding some light on how equity works at Meta?

Meta equity will soon only be visible using Oculus goggles.

Re: FAANG salaries?
I am confused as to what Meta lawyers do all day. I wonder how long the compensation can stay high.

Re: FAANG salaries?
I don’t work at a FAANG, but a next tier tech company, and since I’ve been here annual 10% base increase plus a bigger bump in on-paper annual equity value has been typical. Might need to throw in a promotion to go from $275k to $350k in two years, but it’s also pretty typical to get a promotion in that time.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:31 pmAnonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:44 amAlso at a FAANG (Meta). Re: FAANG salaries?
Original anon here. Regular increases are due to regular raises, higher than normal bonus (did well in reviews), equity refreshers. Also hoping/expecting to receive a promo next year which I factor into projected comp.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:31 pmAnonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:44 amAlso at a FAANG (Meta). Re: FAANG salaries?
Do any of you know if L&E attorneys are on the same scale as other in-house counsel at these companies? If I'm working at a V100 doing L&E, could I expect to make the salaries quoted above?
