Ode to John Dooley (to the tune of Seminole Wind)
Ever since TLS days of old
Men would search for tort awards untold
They'd dig for settlements and for trophy wives lookin' for gold
And make the clients whole
And way down south in the Everglades
Where the black water rolls and the sawgrass waves
The Dooleys fly and the his family plays
In the land of Florida Coastal
So blow, blow Infilaw wind
Blow like you're never gonna blow again
I'm calling to you like an ABA-shutdown friend
But I know who you are
And blow, blow from the Okeechobee
All the way up to Micanopy
Blow across the waterfront home of John Dooley
The alligator and the gar
Progress came and took its toll
And in the name of accreditation reform
They made their plans and they shut down the school,
Now the Orlando settlements are goin' dry
And the last time I walked in Windermere
I stood up on a Cypress stump
I listened close and I heard the ghost
Of JohnnyBgoode92 and John Dooley's cry
So blow, blow Infilaw wind
Blow like you're never gonna blow again
I'm calling to you like an ABA-shutdown friend
But I know who you are
And blow, blow from the Okeechobee
All the way up to Winter Park
Blow across the home of the Infilaw

This is pretty funny, in the old school TLS way. Bravo.

I challenge the naysayers to define for me, if you can, the line between trolling and art.

I read this to myself with the suggested background tune, and it was great. This was excellent work by the OP.Prudent_Jurist wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:05 amI challenge the naysayers to define for me, if you can, the line between trolling and art.

Prudent Jurist, the line between trolling and art?
No one knows what trolling is anymore due to misuse and overuse of the term.
Shouldn't all of the above be on the drinking thread?
The only issue I have with Dooley is that he randomly tells people they are trolls, which wastes everyone's time. So Dooley has a bit of maliciousness in him.

Re: Ode to John Dooley (to the tune of Seminole Wind)
Here we are where "Ode to John Dooley" is at the top of the active topics list.
Dilemma.
Instead of the mindless cat and mouse game where Dooley is repeatedly banned, why not have a thread on TLS called "Penalty Box".
Dooley is in the PB and can only post there. If he verbally abuses another poster, a 2 week suspension. And when he comes back he can still only post in the PB.
All TLS users in the General Population can either post in the PB or GP.
After 6 months, Dooley's posts are reviewed and he may be invited back to the general population of TLS posters.
So I'm proposing that the Penalty Box be a place where almost every type of post is tolerated. If you feel you can pick college football games against the point spread, by all means, post in the PB. You want to post song lyrics, post in the PB. And of course if you click on PB you'll know well in advance what you're in for. Nothing really worthy of Harvard Law Review.
I'll go one better. All past posters who were banned, invite them back to post in the PB. You have their emails. I've noticed that posters who were the most entertaining were often banned. Now you can interact with posters who you thought were gone forever.
And of course now I have to fear I'll be banned for this post. See how pathetic things have become?

Is there a law review article that discusses this? Just trying to keep your playbook going.ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 10:23 amHere we are where "Ode to John Dooley" is at the top of the active topics list.

There did not used to be one on TLS until the old school moderators like A Nony Mouse got canned.Prudent_Jurist wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:05 amI challenge the naysayers to define for me, if you can, the line between trolling and art.

Thanks, it warms my heart there is almost certainly a rich Florida Coastal alum in medmal out there. He probably does not post here because he has many children, a wife with too much silicone, and a boat outfitted for tarpon fishing.Res Ipsa Loquitter wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:59 amI read this to myself with the suggested background tune, and it was great. When someone says Brownsville is not a bad neighborhood to live in because Mike Tyson was robbed there, then they are trolling.ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:49 amPrudent Jurist, the line between trolling and art?

So you joined TLS two weeks ago as (1) a new user, (2) one that was banned before, or (3) using an alt to hide your more unpopular opinions. None of the three will carry much water with the moderators who have been running the show the last few years.ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 10:23 amHere we are where "Ode to John Dooley" is at the top of the active topics list.

Above from Dooley. That's it Dooley. Post crazy when someone puts out a well thought out post defending you.

Reread that thread knuckle dragger. Someone else mentioned Tyson and Brownsville in defense of the area.ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 2:49 pm"When someone says Brownsville is not a bad neighborhood to live in because Mike Tyson was robbed there, then they are trolling."

You know that Dooley wasn’t real, right? I honestly can’t tell.ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 2:49 pm"When someone says Brownsville is not a bad neighborhood to live in because Mike Tyson was robbed there, then they are trolling."

That was me. Because of rent control, rent stabilization, and affordable and government housing projects, even when a NYC neighborhood gentrifies much of its underclass never leaves. I’d imagine many of the bullies who tormented our friend Iron Mike still live in Brownsville.paperchaser wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 3:02 pmReread that thread knuckle dragger. Re: Ode to John Dooley (to the tune of Seminole Wind)
Nixy has a lot of posts, maybe she can persuade the Moderators to discuss my above Penalty Box idea with management.
I can't go into Tyson and Brownsville Brooklyn. If it was a boxing forum, maybe.
If my Penalty Box idea is implemented I'll post my weekly college football picks there. I call it Joe Dickhead Against the Spread. The beauty of the PB is that when you enter, you'll have no expectations, so it's impossible to be disappointed.

Can't you just start a thread called penalty box on your own and then stop posting elsewhere? Doesn't seem like we need mods for that...ukjobsonwetton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 4:35 pmNixy has a lot of posts, maybe she can persuade the Moderators to discuss my above Penalty Box idea with management.
